I just got my new chip in...Put it in the computer and cleared it of its mem. When i start the car it starts really fast and keeps a perfect rpm. But my scanmaster doesn't display anything and the car can only rev to about 2500 rpms and stops fuel and spark delivery and stalls....What didn't i do right, i read that paper that came with it but it doesn't tell anything

Thanks for the help

Sounds like you might be in valet or some other mode.
I'd suggest you look and see what the varous modes are your chip has, and then proceed from there.

I agree with the idea bruce came up with. I don't know how it went into valet - it usually goes into antitheft from a computer reset.
Give Kevin at Ramchargers a call, he'll help you out.

I would agree. You might want to give Ramchargers a call. It shouldn't default to the valet mode (what your problem sounds like).

The check engine light will flash as fast as it can. Then i unplugged the computer for alil and now when it starts it runs and will rev but only for a few seconds and then shut off the car no matter what.

Thanks for the replys...i will call tuesday

I think that if the SES light flashes quickly, then there is a chip problem, seating wrong in the ECM/bent pins or bad chip. I had that once, code 51, and the car is in "limp-home" mode, and runs like crap and dies. I think you can still ground the ADL connector to flash out a code. I remember my scanmaster not working due to this also.

Now THAT'S the anti theft feature. If the SES light is flashing rapidly, tim87tr got it right. It's very likely the chip isn't seated properly or the chip its self is somehow damaged.

i took the chip out...and reset it and now it idles for alittle and u can rev it high....but soon stalls out

I had that problem with light flashing everytime I shut the car off, indicating limp mode. The chip pins were not having a good connection. I gently squeezed the chip tabs so it would seat better in the ECM, and it's been good ever since.

A fast blinking Check Engine light indicates a chip hardware issue.

I have seen chip socket fingers that were loose. I have seen bent pins on the chip. I have seen an occaisional bad chip.

Check the pins and socket contacts. You can bend the socket contacts a little with a safety pin point.

If the chip is still acting up then you should sent it in for replacement.
