re question
1. if i had to pick a diesel it would be the 7.3
and the reason why is the 7.3 was just more reliable i have seen more broken down 6.0 than i ever cared to see. they have a ton of injector
problems most of it steming from bad fuel pumps . i remmber last winter for about to 2 weeks it never got above +2 to 5 degreesand it seemed like every tow truck that came in had a 6.0L straped to its back that wouldnt run or start and it wasnt just gelled up fuel. lots of glow plugs problems and FICMS (fuel injection control modules ) lots of reprogaming up dates
but hay im not a diesel goo roo . oh yeah it was about a 1 in 10 ratio 7.3 to 6.0
2 and the reason i dont like diesels is they smell
and they blow to much black smoke for me and the loud exhaust drives me nuts
3 i own a 6.8 V10 super duty cc sure the fuel milage isnt very good but hay who buys these trucks for fuel milage ?
4 heres my 2 pennys for thought
when i bought my truck gas was i think

$2.50 to $3.00 a gal
and diesel was $3.20 plus i have found that diesels get 13 to 17 mpg may bee even 18 in a ford diesel and thats streching it any thig over 18mpg i would call BS now the chevy i have heard 20 but that was from someone i wouldnt beileve but thats just me . the dodge ive heard 20 22 unloaded and ive heard from most people
9 to 12 mpg towing on any diesel
every v10 guy i have ever talked to said 10 13mpg i have personaly seen15mpg on my way to texas but that was regular fuel not ethnal when i used eathnal i seen 10 no better than 12mpg unloaded
and 11 was the best towing a mid 80s chevy 1ton cc
but any way i just could not justify paying $5000 to $8000 more than what i bought my v10 for and then pay .30 to .60 cents more a gal for diesel (but right now diesel is .25 cents a gal cheaper than gas in iowa )
and as far as power wise really in stock form a diesel doesnt really have any more power then a bigger cubic inch gas engine . think about it take the turbo away from a any diesel and do you think sales would be as good as they are ???? i dont but thats just me sorry if i got under anybodys skin
my favorite thing i have ever heard from a diesel guy is well at least my diesel doesnt down shift on a hill. F##K that S##t here is what i have to say about that:biggrin:

it is this. the reason the diesel dosent down shift is beacause the pcm wil not let the converter unlock when the engine reaches a certin rpm because the engine will over rev as for a gas engine the pcm
will let the converter unlock at over 50% throttle beacause the engine still has a few thousand revs left in it. (at certin speeds)the diesel dont .they already dont turn very high revs. but any way sorry to blow off about the diesels and gas engines i just get wound up because when i get on this topic no fowl intened. i have 1 friend who thinks the diesel engine was the best thing god ever blew breath into and i dont all i hear is that his truck is better than mine but you know what mines
almost paid for . me 1 year left! him 3 plus! its been my expriance that the best automobile is one that is paid for. thats the kind i like
as far as the ethanal fuel and the f 150 i really dont know of any problems
there might be a pcm reflash i can check if you need just let me know
any way i need to go to bed i ve got lots of broken FORD to fix tommarow

lol
