Factory paint?

Was the factory paint job on a 87 GN lacquer or utherane?

It was lacquer. What urethene was available back in the 80's was super expensive. This only holds true for G-bodies built in the Pontiac MI assembly plant. Other plants used a mix of enamels and water based lacquers.
