My wish is that more parts reproduced and additional vendors for our cars will spring up after the onslaught of the noobs and grenaded LC2's!! Then and only then, we will find exceptional bargains on roller cars.

Kirban again I can see where we will be beating a dead horse on my above comments while I agree in part about the movie being geared to a younger set any coverage is good coverage. Keeps the car fresh in peoples mind. As far as Camaros and Chevelles they enjoy tremendous popularity without being on TV or movies and have a far longer track record in the publics eye.

Looking at it from a business stand point it is a plus. The Buick is one of the featured cars and whatever got auctioned off is now or will be in museums.
Time will tell. I am sure after American Graffitti was filmed the 1955 Chevy and the yellow coupe were practically given away although the 55 Chevy later appeared in Two Lane Black top. I am sure both of those cars are quite valuable today and back then it was the younger set that went to that movie.

Its a finicky industry.

+1 Any publicity is good publicity.

I told myself that I would not reply to anymore FF threads but......

If you haven't noticed, the FF franchise, while geared more towards the import generation, has tended to treat the muscle car with respect. They have used some of the icons of muscle cars. In the first one was a Charger. The second was a '69 Camaro. The third was a Mustang. This one will be the Chevelle. Granted they have trashed each of these cars at the end of the movie, maybe as a way to make the "import tunerz" feel good, but the fact that they are the cars to beat is still shown. So, the more I think about it the more I am glad that our '80's model six guns get to share screen time with the muscle car icons. To even be considered in the same breath as the legends is an honor for our beloved turbos and states volumes about their reputation.

Don't know why some of you guys get all bent out of shape. Yes, it's a dumb movie. They were all dumb. It's just fun. I'll go watch it whether or not it's realistic, it'll entertain me for a couple of hours and I'll get to see a gn, fake, gn, regal done up like a gn, whatever. :D

It's not like any of the movies today offer any more realism or good acting for that matter...

If values go up... yippee for us. If popularity goes up and people buy them and buy parts... yipee for the vendors and the mechanics.

It's not like people are gonna stop stealing them.

It's just a movie... BTW I agree with Pickard...:p

Exactly, its just a movie. Laugh at it, enjoy it, whatever. Remember, they could have easily used a new Challenger or new Camaro, but chose the GN, that says something right there.

Exactly my point.

Besides, where else would you have gotten such a great line:

"I live my life a quarter mile at a time."

Still cracks me up...

Just recieved the new Hot Rod Mag in the mail. Has a complete article on the cars used and what was done to them to make them perform as needed. Unfortunatly 6 Regals were used in the making of the movie. Bad news is 4 of the 6 were Turbo Cars. The rest were SBC powered. They even had to turn one body around on the chassis for the one scene where the car seems to be in reverse at a high rate of speed. It is actually going forward. No note on how bad they were F'ed up during the filming. These jerks should be shot. They bought and modified 240 cars for this movie. One happened to be a very rare 72 Ford Gran Torino complete with # matching big block and 4-speed. It of course is totally destroyed. I for one will not give my dollar and condone the destruction of all these cars. I may watch it after it comes on cable for free when I feel the need to be nauseated. I love car movies, don't get me wrong, chase scenes ect. But destroy cars like Toyotas, Kias and junk of that nature, not TRs.

Actually someone needs to get hold of that car and return it to it's former glory. No TR should be destroyed in that stupid movie or any other. Some people can destroy an anvil with a rubber hammer!

Kirbans two cents worth:

I can almost guarantee you that for that movie most of the Turbo Regals used that got destroyed were regular Regals converted to look like Grand Nationals etc. In the old days of course that was not the case but producers have gotten smarter now. Besides, any real ones that got used with ebay an auctions become another asset at the end of the filming.

Had a few REAL ones over the years.......

Bet most on here will end up seeing the movie whether it is in the theatre, downloads or when it comes out on CD's. Pretty sure they didn't use any mint versions of our cars for the movie. My only bone to pick with it is the use of V-8 motor sounds instead of the infamous Turbo V-6 whistle we all love.

Myself, I would love to cruise by the theatre with the exhaust cutout open just as the movie is letting out and watch jaws drop.

im sure you'll catch allot races with ricers that way... they get out of the theater all pumped up to race there 15 second torque monsters

Unlikely. People watching these movies aren't the ones buying these cars nor do they really have an interest in them.

I disagree. I'm on quite a few boards that have "younger crowds" and "import crowds". All of them seem to know about and admire Turbo Regals in general. It's usually just a small group that knows a decent bit about them, but they do seem to be very highly recognized and appreciated.

There's actually a group of us going to see it (mostly domestic cars, some fast imports too) and I fully plan on being in the Buick. :)

FWIW, I just read Universal Studios in California put two of the cars from the movie on display, one is a STI, the other is not Vin Diesels Chevelle or the Charger, but the Allmighty GN

when the first fast and furious movie came out everyone wanted a supra, they sky rocked in price, so will the gn , it's gonna do the same thing, IMO ..

Im sleeping out the night before so I will be first in line. I will probably just pull my car right up to the ticket booth and just set up camp right there.
