Tim you need to shift your car no less then 6100 to 6300rpm. That is the benifit of using a hyd roller over flat tappet. I am pretty sure that if you run a 28" tire and shift each gear at 5700rpm then your gonna run out of gear before the end of the 1/4 with your TH400. Probably would go through the traps at over 6600rpm in valve float territory.

Correct it is a 28" tire . Thanks guys for info I'll try it out this weekend and see how the engine feels shifting at those numbers . Hopefully it will keep making power at those numbers and not drop off . :)

I think you would be better shifting earlier than that with the small turbo. Id guess you would be better off keeping i under 5800. Even then your working the turbo pretty hard.

I shift around 62-6300 and go through the traps at ~6200...

yep, that was the same for me back in the day  .. shift light came on about 40ft from the lights (had it set 400rpm sooner for reaction time)

At a track rental (MIR raceway 11/06) I ran 10.15 @ 131 on a 4 psi foot brake launch, MT 275/60's drag radials (1.46 60 ft.) running 20/21 psi boost going down the track. The best or worst part is that my 2004R trans was slipping on the 2/3 shift big time; also OEM computer with a street TT chip, unleaded & dual alky.

A week or two later the trans was fixed and at the same boost at a Capital rental the car went 134 mph; no better et thou due to bad track prep. I was getting 2.0/2.1 short times that day on "Slicks".

PS: burnout pic from MIR below!!!!

WHAT SIZE TURBO YOU RUNNING AND WHATS THE COMBO IF YOU DONT MIND ME ASKING

245 cu.in. and the offset ground Eagle crank sent to NY to be re-harden (most likely the only one ever done this way) girdled, Chevy rods, light Ross pistons, 9.25 compression ratio, TA (SE) heads that flowed 245 cfm @ .600 lift at the time, they flow a "little" better now. The "NEW" champion intake (just for looks:D ) Limited Engineering GTQ76 regular bearing turbo, dual razor alky, 83 lb. injectors, old precision front mount, Poston headers, 3" atr down pipe, 2 1/2" atr dual exhaust, 224/224 hyd. roller cam, oem ECM with drivers, TT 92 street chip, 2004R trans (no trans brake), stock 3.42 rear. This short block has been retired for now because I am trying something a little different at present, but after checking it over when I get time it will be ready to go again. That et/mph was done through a gutted OEM maf sensor at the time, I now have the 4" Full Throttle intake pipe with sensor. I posted pics of the engine install at the time on I think this site and tb"s" titled something like " New Champion Intake and Dual Razor Alky Install pics" if you want to take a look at my handy work. Thanks Bill

PS: A 5 psi launch would blow the tires away like in the pic below so 4 was all that I could get away with that day.

Last weekend we went out I ran a 9.69, 9.59, 9.67. My laptop died on me so I was only able to get a reading on the last run (9.67). Boost barely peaked at 25 psi in 1st and then dropped to 21-22 psi for the rest of the run. That 9.59 run was @140.78 @21-22 psi. My wife and I are hoping to go to the track with Jack one more time this year so we can really see what she'll do with some more boost.

I got............

28 miles per gallon @ o lbs boost, cruise set to 70 mph, with a/c on, and stereo blasting out some tunes, no roller, flat tappet!:o

Has anyone with a hydralic roller in a 109 gone faster than 9.40 and 146 mph?

UPDATE:

New times Nov 14th, Hub City Dragway

1/8th mile
5.81 @ 120.42

1/4 mile

9.09 @ 149.15 (best mph 149.25)

I remember when you were fighting to get into the fives (I was struggling with low 6's), now you are nocking them down all the time.

Did you ever think these 109's would go this fast?

Did Don or Dan even tell you the cam specs of your motor?

What size hyd roller?

:)

I am all ears on this one:eek:

I think Cruz used a DLS spec cam when freshened it up last year.

Yep, had a lot of data and made a few changes in the setup. Don and Dan nailed it.

Never ever thought this thing would make the power it's making. And yes I know the specs but I don't think they are available for comment.. :)
