I hope you know that drinking doesn't mean getting drunk. That's just the college mentality. ;)

As with most anything, not just drinking, moderation is the key. Drinking, in the right amounts is not harmful, and can even be a healthy thing.

oh i know.. trust me. Dont worry GN One Day it was not a slam agianst anyone that drinks. its my choice i and talking about the college mentality i am the exception to the rule. my comment was meant as a joke. not a slam.

so back to the topic at hand!

Just didn't want you to think everyone here is a drunk. Only some of them. :D

Nothing wrong with not drinking, I've got some friends that have still never had a sip (30's).

Good stuff. Have you tried Woodford Reserve? These are my two favorite bourbons with Woodford being my first choice.

I love the Limon straight, great stuff.

Funny story.....
One time, years ago, (shortly after my 21st birthday) I was at this bar in Ely, NV called Champs. The place was dead so it was just me and the owner,Tony, shootin' the breeze. He had a big poster toward the back that had 100 different shots on it and I had decided that (over the course of time!) I wanted to try every one of them. Eventually, as I worked my way down the list, I got to a shot called a 'Buffalo Sweat'. I couldn't read the poster from where I was, so I asked Tony what was in it. He replied, 'I'll tell you what, if you try it without knowing what's in it--it's on the house.' Being a gamblin' man, I agreed. He made the shot (me looking the other way) and put it in front of me. Without any sissy antics like smelling it or anything, I just shrugged and threw the thing back..........My throat was on fire, my eyes watered right up and I actually got dizzy for a second. I looked at Tony and asked,' Okay..(cough) now (choke)...you can tell me what was in that thing. He said, 'It's a double shot made of half bourbon and half Tobasco.' Right now my throat was burning something fierce, so I asked him for a Coors to wash that nasty crap down. I had a good laugh, but it got even better because over the next year or two in different bars in Nevada, Colorado and Maine if there weren't TOO many people there (hey, I ain't rich) I would announce that I was buying a round of shots for everyone. Secretly, I would tell the bartender what a Buffalo Sweat was and he or she would whip up 20 of them or so and distribute them to everyone. And there would always be several folks shouting their thanks, to which I would think,'Don't thank me just yet!'

The moral of this story: try a Buffalo Sweat! It puts you through such physical strain for about 10 seconds that, when it passes, you feel like you could throw a Volkwagon 25 or 30 feet.

No kidding, if you name one of the jobs I've had I can tell you what I was drinking then.

Cedar Works=Milwaukee's Best Ice:o

what, you only drink bailey's when it's free at the blackjack table?:D

Since the title is 'favorite booze' I'm gonna itemize :D

Beer: Hate beer. Actually, it hates me. 3 beers = food poisoning style hangover! Hate the taste of beer too. However, if I get thru one beer, for some reason the next 15 taste like...well, this is a family board. If anyone ever sees me drinking a beer, please call an ambulance.
My favorite beer: MGD

Rum: LOVE rum! Don't much care for light rum tho. Cap'n Morgan's is okay, but 70 proof "Light" rum? The Cap'n should really come out with a "152" just to piss off Bacardi (which sucks BTW). Myer's dark is okay on waffles, but is a little too rich otherwise.
My favorite rum: rot gut Montego Bay (honest) with diet Pepsi

Bourbon: Bourbon tastes nasty. And the more you spend, the nasty-er it gets. Same flavor properties as beer, nobody can drink just one...
My favorite Bourbon: much as I hate to admit it, Jack Daniel's (and don't forget the apostrophe)

Tequila: Many moons ago, El Toro was the reason a friend and I decided to chase an airplane on the freeway at 3 am. Best booze I've ever found for making a person totally stupid. But it don't make the best drink. And anything that comes with a friggin worm it in ain't goin' in MY mouth.
My favorite Tequila: 1800

Canadian Whiskey: They don't know how to make their own, which is why EVERY Canadian whiskey is a "blended" whiskey. Think "special roast" coffee: take everyone's leftovers and "blend" your own. Ironically, Canadian whiskey ain't all that bad. If you can get financing, Crown Royal is pretty darn good.
My favorite Canadian: Seagrams Canadian Hunter (this stuff literally becomes invisible to your taste buds when mixed with Pepsi)

Scotch Whisky (<--note the correct spelling): In 1981 a friend taught me how to drink Chivas over ice. mmm. Haven't touched scotch since.
My favorite Scotch: Chivas Regal (for lack of any other comparison, and it DOES have "Regal" in the name)

Vodka: hmm, how many different ways can there be to make vodka taste?
My favorite Vodka: The cheapest 100 proof in the liquor store at any given moment.

Wine: not much into wine, can't find the right one (at least that I can afford). However, if I must....
My favorite Wine: Martini & Rossi Asti Spumonti

Liquours: like cigarettes, too many choices. A quick rundown:
Schnapps: Ice 101 in sugar-free hot chocolate around the holidays.
Coffee Liquour: has to be Kahlua, anything else is nasty.
Irish Cream: Carolans. Half the price of Bailey's but ain't half bad.
Liquours you can keep: Jaegermeister, Anisette or any other paragoric-tasting crap; strawberry, peach, lemon, lime, raspberry, cherry, boysenberry, blackberry, cinnamon, orange, apple, banana, pineapple, cucumber, avocado, or any OTHER sickeningly-sweet SCHNAPPS, yechh! If it ain't wine, it should be at LEAST 80 proof, period! (and whatever happened to 86 proof? Coupla bourbons is all you'll find)

My ONE guilty pleasure: Tequila Rose. 30 proof, yucky sweet...go figure!

:)

(PLEASE drink responsibly!)

Apparently Buick From Hell has some sort of doctorate in drunkology;) I think you pretty much spoke for me on everything but dissin' the Jager......shame on you:D But I do thank you for introducing a new slant to this thread: the dreaded 'guilty pleasure'. Mine? When no one is around and the shades are drawn, sometimes I'll sneak a couple of Zimas. They're also great for hangovers:
Hangover cures:
1. If you don't have to work....3 Zimas will fix you right up.
2. If you do have to work....try Pedialite (no kidding) it's priceless.

And you had to bring up tequila....Ugh, if someone is drinking that stuff at the far end of the bar and I catch a whiff of it I'm immediately gagging. That sh!t's got the devil in it.

I'm with you on the Tequila. Haven't been able to stomach that in 14 years. Had an "experience" with it. Changes your body chemistry or something, I don't know.

I'd rather have a hangover than a Zima. (don't ever get one anymore though)

BFH needs to admit that he just doesn't like to drink! Try the Bailey's in your coffee, really good. ;)
Once in a fit of brokeness bought Royal Crown in stead of Crown Royal. I think it was about $5. You can imagine the results. CR is some good stuff though.

favorite CHEAP beer- Busch Light 30 packs of course!
favorite TASTY beer- Corona Extra with lime, probably some bottles still lingering at BG

i dont drink booze cause i cant decide when its time to stop;)

my favorite drink was JACK DANIEL'S, just the black label TENNESSEE sour mash WHISKEY mixed with MOUNTAIN DEW

if you enjoy JACK, and like the DEW, youve got to try it sometime!
its pretty sweet tasting, but dont over due the JACK, cause it gets too sweet if you mix to much JACK....

i used to drink southern comfort when i was about 17, we thought it was great stuff. Mixed with pepsi and dominos pizza, we were good to go...

now everytime i smell southern comfort or copenhagen, my throat tightens up, i get the eeby jeeby's, willy's and i start salavating like im bout ready to throw up:eek:

anyone else feel like upchucking when they smell tobacco/chew/snuff when they drink?

i used to chew alot when i was younger, then quit chewing, and one night i got piss drunk with a buddy and we went pool hopping...
for some damn reason i put in a chew, was doing pretty good, bent over to spit it out, and started wretching... instantly never felt like chewing again!!!

What about Everclear and Mountain Dew?

We used to call that an Aztec Antifreeze.:D

Thank you for a well balanced response: respond to the thread and mention your attempt at recovery. Very cool, something that some were unable to do toward the beginning of the thread. Good luck, my man!

Yer pretty much right, I'm NOT much of a drinker! Mostly because of 2 reasons:
(A) either I don't seem to get a buzz (so why bother), or:
(B) I get totally $#!tfaced, make a total ass of myself, AND lose 2 more days of my life!

And I LOVE Bailey's! Just too much $$!
:D
