i used to have 3 gns & never had any trans problems my fastest car only ran hi 11s though my first question is is the 200 stronger than the 4l60e i cant get my trans to last longer than a year & my car only runs hi 11s can someone post some times & how long their trans is lasting is your car a daily driver & another question is whats the best transbrake for these cars i am thinking of selling my camaro & going back to a buick is the supply of engines running out i dont want to buy another buick & 5 years down the road have a hard time finding a good rebuildable block i appreciate all inputs dollar for dollar my buick was a lot more dependable

the transmissions in GNs are usually considered a weak point. mine is still goin strong, and many guys with stock trannys go deep 11s, but the transmission is eventually gonna go out. however, the 200 has been in cars running 8 seconds before, (tweaked) so it can be built strong if built right. i know many have bad luck when they go to a regular rebuilder and they get their tranny back and it doesnt work right. these cars have special valve bodies and the transmission must be cared for a little differently. i dont know how strong the 4l60 is though.
As for the engine availability, the supply for NOS GM blocks is pretty much gone. but there are still enough rebuildable blocks. yours will probably go well past 5 years, and can go through several rebuilds. just dont bore out the cylinders to big the first time. Dont worry though, TA performance is already making aftermarket blocks, so you can just pick one of those up if the stock one become scarce. it holds up to much more power as well.
Ask "WE4" on the board about his trans brake. sounds like its a good one.
Where in Alabama are you located? Do you ever go up to Steele to the Alabama International Dragway? im up there sometimes and might see you there.

The 4l60 and 4l60e are not nearly as strong as the 200-4R. Typically after a year to a year and a half the weak parts (and there's more than a few) will start to break from metal fatigue. Most often one at a time which means after a year, one part will break requiring a rebuild. 8 mos. later the next part will break requiring another rebuild and so on. They don't conveniently break all at once. It can be very frustrating trying to keep one alive for a reasonable amount of time.
