I just installed the under hood braces on my gn from an 85 grnad prix. they went on very easy and i had no problems. the day after i put them on, i noticed that my hood was bent up where the braces are. it seems that the ridge onthe underside of the hood was rouching the brace pushing it up. Is it safe to cut a piece out of this ridge in the hood? or did i install them wrong? any help would be appreciated.

go ahead and trim a little....it's a common problem if the braces were not custom made for the Regal hood.

Had the same problem. I took em off and I was Ticked though cause now I have 2 holes in my inner fenders. Guess I could try trimming the hood.
Need to,cause I even had the things Base coat clear coated. Just sittin in a box gleaming.

i think im gonna trim the hood, i was just wondering if it would harm the structural integrity of the hood? anyone know or have expericne with this?

IMO it is NOT worth trimming a good hood just to fit the braces. Everyone has their priorities though..

AMEN!

Take the braces to any shop with a pipe bender & tweak them, NOT the hood.

HTH :)

Sad part is that really isn't going to fix the problem. The interference is at the very side edge of the hood. The hood hits the braces where the fold over is on the edge. No amount of bending will solve that. One thing that you CAN do that works is to drill the bump area along the fender apron just below the point that the brace would normally fit well(without the hood closed) but then the brace sits on top of the bulge and looks kinda goofy. Either way you look at it, it's a PITA.

Kirban's braces, 2 cars, no problems.

Proving once again, you get what you don't pay for...
