Unfortunately, our entire enconomy evolves around oil..when oil goes up, everything people consume and use will go up because somewhere down the line, oil had to be used to produce or ship it.
That I beleive is the entire reason for the sagging economy and recession. It will continue until prices go up, which will then cause wages to go up..which will then again cause oil to go up if everyone continues to pay it. The only way the oil prices will collapse is if everyone stops using it..but that can't happen. You think the govt doesn't love this as well...think of all the taxes those companies pay for those excessive earnings...corporate taxes royally sux compared to personal income taxes because the govt taxes it twice..once when a company retains it as "profit" then again when the company disperses it as salary to its employees. Gov't realizes that the use of oil will drop some due to better gas mileage cars..thats why they now want to increase the tax per gallon..cause if gas is $1 or $4 a gallon, the govt gets the same amount of tax per gallon.... Think the EPA which is govt funded really want the automakers to build better mpg cars??

Update: $3.25 regular 87, $3.45 premium 93, still $3.99 Diesel- S.E. KY

Filled my expedition with over $83 bux in premium fuel!

Look at the bright side... 100 octane sunoco at $5.xx / gallon is a comparitive bargain.

Those cartoons are right on the money!

Just passed by a marathon in my town. regular unleaded $3.44!

It seems to be creeping daily.

As long as I am throwing Roosevelt quotes around the board today, here are a couple which seem appropriate to our present day oil problem.

"The conservation of natural resources is the fundamental problem. Unless we solve that problem it will avail us little to solve all others."
Address to the Deep Waterway Convention, Memphis, TN, October 4, 1907

"We of an older generation can get along with what we have, though with growing hardship; but in your full manhood and womanhood you will want what nature once so bountifully supplied and man so thoughtlessly destroyed; and because of that want you will reproach us, not for what we have used, but for what we have wasted...So any nation which in its youth lives only for the day, reaps without sowing, and consumes without husbanding, must expect the penalty of the prodigal whose labor could with difficulty find him the bare means of life."
"Arbor Day - A Message to the School-Children of the United States" April 15, 1907

Just went up today here. $3.47 a gallon for 87. $4.19 gallon for diesel!

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! $100.00 to fill up your car! That is just stupid!

I guess we have to deal with it though, the thing I don't get is they say the demand is going down so why doesn't the price come down?? Supply and demand right? I think its called corporate greed.

89 is $3.50 here and Diesel $4.15:mad:

93 is $3.60

They all went up .11 cents today at close here..................................

I travel 1250-1500 miles a week and this has become rediculous:mad:

$3.67 for 87 today on my way home from work, this morning it was $3.49.....

I just pulled up to a station today, Diesel was $4.27. I had to drive away. I have never been one to shop around for gas prices, but 5 miles up the road it was almost .30 cheaper. When you are buying 40 gallons at a time, it makes a difference. My truck is not exactly a fuel miser, but it does get 20 plus mpg. Not bad for a 1 ton 4wd quad cab dually. I will have to switch to the Mustang this week. It gets closer to 30mpg, and can burn fuel that is .70 a gallon cheaper.

Pretty good stuff, a forward thinker for sure. Gas here is $3.45, I'm walking to work.

Wish I owned a motorcycle dealership. About the only business that is probably loving these gas prices.

I work for transit and I can ride the train for free. Lately I've been driving in to save time but this morning when I saw gas at 3.19 for regular, I parked and rode in. I got home from work today and the prices went up 10 cents more.

Invest in Schwinn and Haro, or any bicycle company.
Can Americans "deal" with having to pedal there way to work instead of driving?

I have never owned a motorcycle, but have been thinking about getting one.

I saw the lady changing the price this morning to $3.53 for 87 octane.
