I don't see the govt stepping in..they may act like they are trying to do something about it, but the fact is, those companies, like Exxon Mobil making these giant profits...the govt is getting around 35-40% of that profit in taxes to those companies, so the govt makes out when big oil companies make huge profits also...and thats on top of the govt taxes on each gallon of gas sold at the pump.
Not to mention when gas is already high..that makes it easier for the govt to raise those per gallon taxes and the public not notice it as much, there's already talk about the govt wanting to double the current pump tax. It sux, but oil is more valuable than money now and is the fuel for the entire economy and is unfortunately a necessity that cannot be done without.

Having said that, the government needs to step in and re-regulate oil. It is in fact a commodity that everyone in America relies on in some manner. It should not be something that the brokers can drive sky high in order to fill the pockets of their cronies.
Also these profits are rediculous. Profit is what is left after all other expenses. I'm not in an way a socialist but there is such a thing as gouging the public and there are laws on the books to stop just this type of crap. Somebody with "balls" has to step up.

I saw diesel in Atlanta at 4.49 last week ,just saw it at 4.22 here in Dallas to day. It took 4 tanks from there to here at around $90. per tank:mad:

Talked to a buddy in San Diego. Claimed 87 oct was $3.75:eek:

Just paid 4.20 for 91 in San Diego.

Most gas stations are now over 4.00 for 91. Its really getting insane. Luckily my job is only a few miles away. I'd really hate to be driving 20-30 miles a day to work like i was last year.
