Filling EGR passages in heads with molten aluminum. Is it worth it?

I am currently having my heads done and the guy porting them recommended that we fill the huge egr ports on the 2 center exhaust ports. I have seen on Champions site that their iron heads have the egr ports filled.
I live in an area where emissions inspections arent required. I also am running a chip which has the egr function eliminated.
I am wondering if anyone has any experience with this and if so, how can I go about filling them? Any info is appreciated. TIA

I had them redrilled, and then has some steel rods pressed in, along with a few tacs of weld, then ground to shape.

I think 1 of the holes had a taper or something, was why we drilled them. It's been a while.

When checking the size on the holes I found that they are all tapered. The end exhaust ports on the V6 heads are much smaller diameter and I dont believe they feed into the intake. As a matter of fact, the driver side is the only side that actually feeds the intake. None the less, the center exhaust ports have enormous egr holes. But the redrilling and driving some sort of rod in is actually a good idea.

The EGR ports on the end cyl., aren't for EGR in any application that I know of.
About the only thing that makes sense is that they were used to increase the exhuast to cooling system ratio, in an effort to help warm up the engine for dold run emissions. Other then that I can't see what they'd be were for.
