Getting ready to convert to E-85 so I spent some time with tech support at WIX filters on Friday and they claim they offer nothing recommended for E-85. Seems the feel 20% max is safe with their products! I asked about their # 3900R filter used in the Fram housing and they re-confirmed NO E-85 based on their research. Confusion, any suggestions or alternatives??

Funny ...I called WIX on January 19th 2012 and asked about the very same filter housing & filter , before Ractronix sold their fuel line & filter kit. They said yes it was compatible because it was in their racing line of filters. I hope it's OK cause I just installed their kit !!

I spoke w/ Richard @ WIX at length on 8/15/2014 and he felt the filter would not hold up w/ E-85 , I am prepping a mobile storage tank (65 gal) and wanted their best app. for that so as not to bring any water or ?? when storing & transfer. That's when the E-85 concerns came up....................

Just want to run and see without blaming failure on unknowns!!!!!

If your looking for a filter for storage & transfer I think the Goldenrod housings & filters are rated for E85 and can be found at Tractor Supply or Northern . Someone on here uses one I believe .

I spoke w/ Goldenrod also , they hesitated to say their unit was E-85 compatible. They so far offer the closest strainer yet ??? on filtering........................

Also spoke w/ Zoro from E-Bay , they handle the Baldwin line and say the water sep. is questionable so just go with basic fuel filter an change often.............better price w/ no shipping??

I don't think there is a filter thatcan separate water and alcohol. It mixes so well chemically. That's why Heet is used to remove water from gas tanks in the winter.

OK but how many people want to use a stock filter with aftermarket lines.

I did & it worked fine. Used 2 of them to be exact. My car ran as fast as them guys with those high dollar parts. 9.3's @ 145 on E85

Here's a thought: from the marine side they use a fuel / water filter / separating filter assembly on all inboard boats. From experience I know they work!! Look at some of the options in that area confirming flow rate and these may be the best for us.
These are used with all including newer muscle boats w/ fuel injection & higher pressures. Another option??
