i finally got around to purchasing an installing a terry houston 3" d.p. went to atco and here's how it went. 1st run- 2lb launch 1.69 60' 12.05@112.03///
2nd run- same launch; made the converter lock in 2nd gear; 1.74 60' 11.91@114.2!! guess it really does add .2 and 2mph! 3rd run; upped boost 2psi and turned fuel down 2psi; 2lb launch 1.71 60' 11.94@113.65. 4th run- turned fuel back up 2psi. launched hard this time; 8-10 lb launch- spun and got a little sideways! 1.65 60' !! 11.87@113.2 pretty good night! i know there's alot more to be had out of this car. i've been running a little heavy on the fuel and octane, to be on the safe side. over the next few days, i'm going to do some major tuning, lighten the car up as much as i can, get an air bag for the pass. side, and do a few other tricks, then head back down to the track on tuesday. i definitely think i can get an 11.50 or a little better out of this combo. what do you guys think??

How much boost are you running? What is your WOT timing? What fuel were you using?

23 psi the first 2 runs and 25 psi the 2nd two. running a mix of sunoco 116 and ultra 94. wot timing at 25*

Wow. Well you're pretty close to the edge. You wouldn't happen to have an EGT on there would you? Max EGT?

Taking a swag I think you might be a little rich as well. With a similar combination, Steve Hill and I were in the 114-116 mph range. The only difference is we run water-alcohol with 93 octane, and we run it pretty hot. You have great 60' times though. Also, we run 275-50-15s, which is almost one percent smaller on the circumference than your size tire. You *should* be as fast if not faster if your tuning is close.

Congrats on breaking into the 11's! :)

A couple of questions: are you monitoring KR? If not, you might want to consider some tool to do this. Scanmaster, knock gage, auible alert etc.

a Wideband would be a great tool to help you get even deeper into the 11's.

That turbo should really wake up around 26# of boost......but I'd run straight race fuel to be safe.

Have fun, run fast, but think safety first!!

absolutely 0 kr. wasn't really paying attention to the o2 readings. i do have a scanmaster. also, the tires aren't the same as the sig. i'm running M/T et drags. 26-10-15 at 13 psi. i'm wondering if a taller tire would give me more mph. also, i'm definitely going to be doing the alky kit, so i'm not wondering about the ratios when mixing the fuel.

Joe,

Watching your O2's with a narrow band sensor is a waste of time. EGT's are a better guide to AFR. But if you want to tune the car to the edge and keep the headgaskets in place (and not DOTC). Beg, borrow or steal a wideband setup. They are really quite cheap these days, and very accurate. If you are tuning to AFR numbers, KR becomes less important.

As far as tires go, you should consider a 28X9 or 28X10 in a real drag slick for track purposes. You won't see a drop in ET, you should pick up your 60' and your MPH will increase. I run a 29X9 with a 3.90 gear. I'd run a 30X9 but it won't fit without cutting the wheel wells up.

What boost level are you at? I have a similar set-up. You seem to be 60ftn pretty well. Thanks

thanks for the replies guys. i got down and dirty today and all i can say is WOW! i took a ride out to kirban's today to pick up some air bags for the rear springs. while i was there, i talked to pete for a little bit. he was very helpful. i gave him all the info, and he said it sounded like i was running way rich. he told me where to put the fuel and boost, as well as what to run the air bags at. i came home, set the boost to 23 psi, fuel pressure at 41 psi line off. i installed the air bags. i also changed my differential fluid, and installed a new set of ngk ur5's. i went up to get some race fuel, but the place was closed! i'm pissed because i really wanted to hammer this thing hard, because after the adjustments and upgrades, this thing feels as fast at 1/4 throttle as it did at full throttle before!! throttle response is much better, and in top gear with the converter locked it pulls like mad with just light throttle pressure! i had a newer mustang trying to play with me on the way home, and i was walking him hard at not even half throttle! i'm going to get some fuel tomorrow, hammer it and check my numbers, and head back down to the track by the end of the week. hoping for 11.5-11.3. i have a week off because i'm starting a new job, so i have some time to play around. pete said with my settings, i should be around 117-118 mph, and it sure feels like it's mphing harder now. i'll let you all know how i make out. thanks pete!

Congrats on breakin in the 11's!

Are you sure?I was able to stuff a pair of 30x9 Hoosiers that were mounted on a 8" Chevy Rally wheel from a 71 Chevelle on my stock suspensioned car this summer.I borrowed these from a guy at work, thought they looked way too big to fit but I have air bags and maybe that helped them fit without rubbing. They ended up being too big for my combo though and slowed me down compared to the 28" DR's I was using.

Congarts

Congradulations on breaking the 11's. It's a good feeling. You need to update your signature now, you earned it.

Oh yeah, I'm sure the 30x9's won't fit. I have a nice pair of Hooiser Radial 30x9 slicks in my loft that I tried this past summer. I had to replace them with 29x9's. I had them mounted on 15x8 weld prostars. Life is good with the 29x9's.

if you need help, let me know. i've been studying these cars very hard.
