Well after about 4 years I finally took the car to the track. Made a couple of easy shake down passes that went 13.5, 13.35, then 12.9. I let it cool down for about an hour and made a good pass, went 12.40 at 114.6mph. My friend that is running 69 Nova 4door(350ci, 9.75comp, Performer RPM heads and intake, .500 lift cam, 700r4, 4.10 gears, and nitto's) showed up we both work on each others cars and know everything about them. His best time to date was a 13.04 at 104, so I knew I had him covered.
So he comes up talking alittle more smack than usual
I dont really think anything about it, because he should be no where near a 12.4. One of the guys that came with him asked if he was going all out this next run, and he said yes, I asked him if he put nitrous on it and he said no. So he runs a 12.6 at 108, and Im like how the heck did he pick up 1/2 second, and 3mph all of the sudden. He is in the pits messing with stuff, I run over and sure enough there is an NX bottle in the trunk!
So he tells me he is running a 100 shot and wants to run me next run, while he was bumping timing. So I go over give the Buick another lb of boost (22psi) and get ready. I didnt have enough time to let it cool down becuase it was 11:15pm and the lanes close at 11:30. So we roll up and line up next to each other. I do a mild burnout, while he burns the piss out of his. I role up and stage and start to get the boost up, then he stages. I get up to about 7psi and the lights drop. He redlights (-.237) and I cut a .111 light, so I am behind a good amount, I couldnt reel him in by the end but the final results were;
Nova- 60' 1.927 and 12.381 at 111.60
Buick- 60' 1.838 and 12.193 at 113.84
I was happy with my time and the fact I held him off.
My best mph was 114.6 so I think she's got an 11 in it, especially after I add a new intercooler.
Not bad for a V6 and a 4 door Nova
