first gn

hey guys i just bought an 86 gn with 78000 miles it is bone stock and is going to be a third car for my wife and i. i would like to do a few upgrades in the performance department but i don't want to sacrafice dependability this is my first turbo buick so any suggestions would help thanks

The most important thing to do is get a scan tool and learn how to read/use it! Without proper tuning, extreme damage can happen quickly....knock is not your friend.
As far as mods, get the fuel system upto date first...if you don't know how old the pump is, replace it with a Walbro and a Hotwire kit and new filter.
Next is injectors..depending on your goals, you can't go too big with the MSD 50s or the new Mototron 60/65 #ers.
Valve springs and timing chain would be next, the plastic gear timing chain will be falling apart by now and the vs will be weak.
Once these are done, you can begin tuning, but I would not make a WOT run until all of the above is done.
