This stuff is great! I formorlly had knock from 10 to 18 psi. Today I crept up the boost to 21 psi with only rare blips of 1.8 during some stomping . I have 840's showing on the scanmaster leading me to beleive the fuel pressure could stand more boost? I have the pump speed all the way up and it comes in around 9psi which is where I would get knock before. Can somebody tell me if I should slow the pump down or just keep increasing the boost? I am still running the stock intercooler, v4 on the way???? te44 blue tops, 340 fuel pump ect. If the car is showing no knock does this mean it is making the same power as with race gas when its dialed in correctly? Hoping too go 11.9 in the future with pump gas? Tia Kevin:eek:

This is just my car, but my turn on point is at 11#'s. I have 30 over pistons and heads shaved, so on street tune I can get about 20#'s and get about 1-2* of KR. So what I recommend you do is turn up your turn on point to around 11#'s, then run it. If it still has knock and running pig rich, then turn your pump speed down to 8, then 7 if still over 800 02's. Get it to 780's with very little knock. Your KR is from being rich.

thank for the reply, I will turn down the pump speed slowly and turn up the spray on point ? This is the tuning process? I just got in from a ride and from 0 to 75 mph no kr and scanmaster read 820's i have the boost at a consistent 21 psi. Sow is it correct to assume until I am on both verges of kr and running rich/lean this is the goal to attain the most power? and I hate too beat this issue till its a dead thread but how much boost is attainable? I have read that this turbo t44 is just showing its potential after 20 psi? I am very much a rookie as I raced 70 skylarks for years with no thinking involved!!! I need all the help I can get :D Kevin

Just get down to 780's and you'll be fine. If your happy with the turn on point, then live with it. But on some cars, anything under 11 will usually drown out the motor and show KR for a moment or 2. True, the 44 will shine all it's glory about 21#'s boost. I'd say turn up the boost 1# at a time with no other changes to the SMC, then run the car. The added extra 1# of boost will bring down your 02's to a leaner level which you need.

I have my turn on around 12-13. Whistling pig, turn that boost up another couple of pounds. Once you have the pump speed at 10 and it still can't get rid of knock then you have reached the limit. Keep turning the boost up until you get knock and then back it down a pound. If the 02s start to drop while you are adding boost, then add a couple of pounds.

I am able to run 23* of timing and over 25lbs of boost without knock with the 02s in the 780s

Just made first street run with Alky

I just took the car out for the first time with the alky, and just have to say WOW!!! I'm still "babying" the new rebuild, but I wanted to get the turn on point adjusted (since I screwed with the knob before I read the instructions saying it was preset for 10 psi  ). I got it adjust to 10 psi and max flow and WOW. I only went to about 12 psi, It may be in my head, but it seems like I can feel a kick in the a$$ when the alky kicks on. I know it should just reduce detonation, but does it add a noticable power increase too? obviously I had no knock at 12 psi (nor have I ever), but it was pretty impressive. Now to crank my 72 turbo up to where it should be and run it on pump gas :D

Alky

I just got my SMC kit in my car and OMG! This thing rips now! I did notice about 4* of KR before the alky kicks in (it goes away in the next frame), but that may have to do with my 26* PTE race chip.
I have the boost at 21psi, and you can definitely feel when the alky hits. I didn't want to turn it on too early and bog the motor, it turns on at 10psi now, pump speed it at 8. FP is at 45psi, Sunoco 94.

Thank God I have the Hoosiers on the car because the Radial T/A's would have been useless.
