Try Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach I think last year was only $34 per head.

we got robbed at Blizzard Beach 4 years back . We left our stuff for less than 5 mins to check on the smaller kids at the wave pool . someone went thru all out personal belongings and walked away with cash/cameras/credit cards from our two familys belongings . Disney security literally did sweet nothing about it . Didn't even bother to check the security camera footage . even after getting detailed descriptions of the two women who did it . That bothered me the most .You get a false sense of feeling safe and secure there , but beware . It left a real bad taste in my mouth how we were treated by Disney and I'll never go back .

staying in the park with a package deal is the best way to do it. $2000 for 4 or 5 days, parkhopper, magic hours into the late late night, food deals, etc...

we've done that several times over the years, with the magic hours we won't even head over to the parks until late afternoon. Spend the late morning and early afternoon at the resort lounging by the pool....

plus Disney is the only one I know of that doesn't charge extra for the "fast pass". Everybody gets it plain and simple. I hate going to a park and watching some chooch that paid extra for a fast pass go to the front of the line. That's BS.

that goes on everywhere not just Disney. there are professional thieves that roam parks and tourist destinations around the world.

that is certainly not the fault of Disney. that is ur fault for assuming people are honest because you are at a family oriented park. opportunist thieves make a living off of people like you.

I realize that . It was the way Disney handled it was what real got me . they honestly didn't give 2 ****s that it happened right in their park .

yea I hear ya. even if they pretended to look at the video it probably would have made you feel better at least.

I doubt it was a solvable crime tho since those kinda thieves just move to another park to victimize someone else. plus ur dealing with someone being paid minimum wage likely and could probably care less. still sux tho, I agree.

check out wetnwild on international drive.
Also that swim with the dolphins thing that seaworld owns is nice. It's pricey but is limited guests and includes a nice meal.

The dolphin park is called Discovery Cove. Discovery Cove was a good time as you can swim with the rays and other exotic fish in one area or swim with the dolphins under supervision. There's also a lazy-type river to float/swim around in. We spent all day there and the kids had a blast while dad (me) lounged on the beach area and enjoyed a few adult beverages. It was nice in that it seemed to be a bit more exclusive than some of the other attractions due to the limited amount of guests they will accept. The staff there were really friendly too....something we did NOT experience at Universal Studios.

heres what we did,get a wheel chair at the park for your injured (whoever) and you get to go to the front of every line...we went on the hottest day 2 yrs ago...that wheel chair was the best $10 ever spent...:smile:

Yeah work the system, like we don't have enough people doing that already. Saw a few doing that when I went in March. Sorry I have too much pride to pretend I'm hurt just to get on a ride.

planing my vacation and i can't believe that the stincking park costs $85.00 a person:mad::mad::mad:

Are there any FL resident specials that i can get through a FL resident??

Unfortunately you only save $25.00/person.

Just spent three days there and it cost $1200.00 what a rip off.

So we're in Pop Century Resort and I go for my morning cup of coffee and the girl says that will be $4.46, welcome to Disney. I say I'm not paying for a cup off coffee when I just put $1200.00 on my card to be here for three days not counting food and walked out with it, she never asked again.
Oh yea, thanks for the $25.00 discount.

Never again.

Here is what we rented for a week, you guys did understand that Disney was not going to be cheap right?

Luxury Disney Rentals

just going over this with the wife and we remembered why it was so cheap the last time we went- We got a few free tickets from a time share sales pitch so my out of pocket was very little. i guess thats why i am shocked at the prices now????

anyway moving forward
we will be going for the 1 day to magic kingdom pass and NOTHING else Disney.
id really like to hit Blizzard beach and i am thinking about it.

i didn't take it in a bad way at all (you are trying to help)
but i just couldn't passed the price until my wife and i really started digging into it LOL.
any one want to torture me with a time shares sales pitch then give me some free Disney tickets??

August is the worst month. Hot and busy. But the best advice given was the package deal. I suggest a nice place in Port Orleans, they have great pools for the kids and great rooms.

how much are the hotel rooms at the wilderness lodge hotel? just curious

We go down about every 2 years and stay on international drive. universal is right around the corner and disney is just a short drive. There is plenty on things to do on international and its cheaper than staying in disney.

Just got back from spending a week in Florida. I did the Universal thing rather than Disney World...and it wasn't too bad. Spent roughly $1000 for admission into, and two day in the parks. The food was OK, nothing to write home about...but edible. Universal Studios was much less crowded than Islands of Adventure...and had more kid friendly rides (less roller coasters).

Not sure if you've already got the place to stay part arranged, but I've got a few extra weeks on my timeshare I'd be willing to let ya use if you pay the exchange fees. I stayed at the Silver Lake Resort, and it was super nice, and not really busy at all.

We just went in July. But being military, we stayed at the Shades of Green which cuts the cost of lodging considerably. We also got deals through the Morale Welfare & Recreation (again...military) which make it reasonable. Plus, we got the Fast Passes.

Bring plenty of bottled water with you, you'll need it. I would also bring snacks and stuff like that for the kids so you're not constantly having to buy them. And even if you don't have kids that ride in a stroller, I would still bring one so you don't have to carry anything and can just push it around in the stroller. Makes life so much easier than lugging around a back pack full of bottled water, snacks, sun tan lotion, aspirin, etc. We all wore "aussie" style hats with the wide brims to protect against sun burn.

We stayed for almost 6 days and we probably only saw a fraction of what there is to see. It is impossible to see everything Disney has unless you stay there for a month.

When I was a kid, I remember going on ride after ride...not so much these days as it just seemed to me that there are less rides and more "attractions". I was surprised to see that the old race car ride was still there and that they're still gas powered.

Splash Mountain is still there, but I can't imagine there are too many kids that remember what movie that is based off of. My daughter loved it and we wound up riding it about 5 times in a row (we went on the rides during the light show/fireworks show when no one else was on the rides).

Thunder Mountain is a must, awesome ride with some different than normal roller coaster stuff that kids will like too.

Space Mountain isn't anything like I remembered it. Roller coasters in pitch black with some flashing lights here and there aren't fun at all. I swear as a kid, that ride was lit up and there were all kinds of "sci-fi" stuff to see.

Downtown Disney is nice. They have a T-Rex (dinosaur themed) restaurant and a Rainforest Cafe for the kids and a House of Blues restaurant for the adults that is really good.

A MUST: Disney Quest on Downtown Disney. It doesn't look like much on the outside and it cost around $40 a person, but it's well worth it. I could spend two days in there. Five stories of nothing but games. Every arcade video game (all free once inside) known to man is in that place...all the old school stuff like Space Invaders to Joust to the newer games. They have hundreds of the racing games like NASCAR, Need for Speed, Fast & Furious, etc. The NASCAR one has about a dozen linked together so you're almost always in a race against all real people. The best part of Disney Quest though is the bumper cars with a cannon. Two people ride in a plexiglass enclosed bumper car. One is the driver and one is the gunner. The gunner shoots bowling ball sized rounds through a cannon at the other cars. If you hit a certain spot is sends that car spinning out of control. The driver tries to dodge and pick up cannon balls by driving over them. It's crazy fun. There is so much other stuff to do in there, it's well worth it (plus it's air conditioned).

One thing that is surprising about most of the Disney locations (except for Epcot and Downtown Disney) is the lack of places to sit and eat in the shade or in a/c. There are few restaurants at places like Magic kingdom and what they do have has very limited seating. We saw people eating on the floors of the stores eating as if it was their last supper. Plenty of stores though...ridiculous amount of stores actually.

If you have a daughter(s) and she wants to have dinner with the princesses you need to call now and for reservations. There are two dinners that I remember, one with Cinderella on Magic Kingdom, and the other is on Epcot with about 6 or 7 of the other Princesses. We went to that one because I wanted to hang out with Jasmine...I mean because my daughter wanted to meet more than one princess. The food was actually really good, they hold it in the Norway exhibit on Epcot, but it's a bit pricey...$143 for 2 adults and 2 kids (ages 5 & 8).

The fast passes aren't that bad of an idea, you just have to time them right. Get a fast pass (which usually means you can come back to the fast pass line in about 3 hours) and then go wait in line for 2 hours on another ride...get off that one and go straight to the ride you got a fast pass for. If there are rides you know you want to go on, I would try to plan on going on them while the park is having a show/parade/fireworks whatever when everyone else is there most of the rides are empty. Then come back another day for the show...you will want to see the light show/fireworks at Magic Kingdom, be directly in front of the castle though, it's killer.
