Broken tooth on flexplate. Its a stock 3.8motor with 10 in torque cnvtr.i believe its just stock flywheel.im in n cali.

You have to be careful. Make sure that you take yours to match. The flex plates are different then any other 3.8. They are balance differently. When I had my motor balanced, they needed the flexplate also to balance. Wanted equal weight from to back.

do the stock ones have a weight welded on somewhere.autozone sales em for 39$.but id rather keep $ in our group.hey project$pit,40 sounds good can you look to see if their are weights in different spots on the ones u have?

If you grab a flexplate from a 3800 or none turbo car and match them up to yours, you will see that they have been cut and drilled differently.

just so you know turbo cars flex plate is stamped with turbo on it , non turbo flex plates dont say anything on them. i was told its because they are balanced diffrent due to diffrent piston weights between the 2 engines

I never seen turbo stamped on them, but I do know that they need to be balanced with the motor. Good info on the stamping. I will look out for that...

Not saying the others won't work but in the 21 years and 30 to 40 of these cars Iv'e worked on and tore apart I always saw Turbo stamped on the original flexplates. Interesting.

is there a certian spot the stampings are at, crank side, coverter side. someone have a pic of the stamping, maybe i need to clean it better to see it.

i always do a complete "search"and study all previous threads and i never saw anything on any other threads about the special kind of flexplates for our turbo motors.i guess this subject hasnt been beat to death like alot of other things.im going to order a new one from autozone to see if its stamped"turbo"i checked out part #s and there is a difference between the 87 turbo and the 87 na 3.8liter.

NOTICE THE MAGIC MARKER AT 12O'CLOCK ? I GUESS I WAS WRONG IT ONLY SAYS TUR AND I ASSUMED IT WAS FOR TURBO BUT MAYBE IT WAS FOR TURD
