I just put a precision FM on the car in place of the old V4 stock location. Everything is awesome except the car runs 20-30 degrees warmer now (about 205-215). The car has a new Griffin alluminum radiator, and a one electric pull fan which i thought would help the car stay under 200. Would the dual fans help enough to make it worth my while?

What's the outside temp?

I recently installed a PS front mount and a RamChargers dual fan. I am running the same temp as I did before the install.

On a 95-100 degree day and the AC on, I run about 190-195 at 70MPH. Around 200 at idle.

On a 95-100 degree day, your car is sucking up air that has been heated by the concrete. It's probably 130.

The Powerstroke intercooler will not really up your coolant temp due to the fact that the end tanks don't block the radiator like the Precision.

I also have the Ramchargers dual fan setup and love it. No FMIC though. My Alky does a fine job keeping the intake charge cool.

Get a dual fan setup and you may also want to look into a beefier fan harness like the one at Racetronix.

Outside air temps are about 80-85 id say. (205-215 is around town) I assume id be around 200 on the highway also. So is 205-215 in town normal? How hot is too hot? I have not used the alky setup yet, so i guess that should help some in itself.

IMHO, your problem stems from the use of a Griffin radiator. "Been there done that".

Their fin count is much to high to be extremely efficient unless you're doing over 100 mph. They were, after all, primarilly designed for NASCAR use originally, and subsequently adapted for street cars. Problem is, they never changed the core design much. They're just too dense and air flow is a restriction, especially when adding a front mount.

I eventually dumped the griffin and went back to an HE stock type unit, and have never been happier.

I have a front mount and a stock radiator(1985 smaller actually) also got the ramcharger fans and she stays right around 165ish in town and right around 200 on the highway(need bigger radiator). Do you have a 160 degree t-stat? I think for $80 its definatly worth your while!!

Yup gotta 160 stat. What about a BE Cool radiator? I know where i can get one for cheap. Are they less restrictive?

get a radiator from nick mcale and the ramchargers dual fans and youll be good to go. its proven. i dont think my car hits 180 degrees with the air on in the summer. also, thats with a front mount :D

turbot2112, are you running water/antifreeze or water and that stuff Nick sells? Thanks.

after i installed my FM, the ramcharger dual fans, fixed all my problems

If you can get it cheap, DO IT! They work!!

usually water and rm125 in the summer. right now just got antifreeze cause ive gotten lazy this year. car is still fine though in these temps. :D

I have a CAS V-1 (BIG front mount) and CAS Street aluminum radiator and stock cooling fan. Temp runs 160-180. No problem. If I was going to install new fan would go with the SPAL 16" curved blade NASCAR unit as it pulls MUCHO air.
Conrad

ps...get the ATR (or others) kit that boxes in the radiator so all the air goes thru the I/C and radiator.

I have the griffin AL. Radiator and it works great. I always run a couple of bottles of water wetter. That and a fan upgrade and you should be fine.

I have a PTE front mount w/ Ramchargers fans and at idle the car will stay between 167-175 on a 95° day. But, stop & go traffic w/ A/C it'll hit 215°. That's when I shut off the A/C and roll down the windows :( . The ramchargers fans do work better than the stock fan as I can leave the A/C on longer. This is with a newer replacement radiator too!

I have a Cotton's, and AL radiator.

I have the fans set to come on at 205dF. So on a warm day, they run around town, and on the freeway the temps ~195dF.
Just 50/50 antifreeze, and the above works fine for me.

If with DS running you're seeing over 40d timing, you might have try getting your chip guy to do another chip, with like 36-38d for cruise.
