As you can see this is my first post. I'm a Mopar guy through-and-through, but I've got a line on a GN for sale. It's an '87. 84k miles. Completely stock except for some engine performance upgrades. The paint and interior are immaculate. Is it worth the $10k he wants for it? What should look for in terms of problem areas on them?

I repoed a bunch of these cars back in the late '80s and I've always liked them. I wouldn't mind having one to own.

Go to gnttype.org and read up over there. I think they have a guide you can use that will help with finding the trouble areas with the cars.

Deoending on options and your definition of immaculate, 10k is probably fair market value, personally I would start the bidding at 9 and see how firm the price is. Some quick things to look for:
- oil leaks at rear main seal and valve covers
- function of powermaster brake unit
- magnet test on lower quarters and lower corners of doors
- turbo function (should hold 15-17 psi at least)
- shifting (should be firm but still fairly smooth-if that makes any sense)
-check underneath for rust in frame and floors-esp around fuel tank

other than that maybe put a fuel pressure gage on it and that's about it besides anyting you would check on any car. You will not be disappointed with these cars, I love my road runner(73 340 car), but it does not compare to the kick in the pants you get from a GN. good luck...
