Guy in Parts Wanted section looking for a 49....get in touch with him.

I bet it's ok with stock with a garret exhaust housing but a precision housing will spool a little slow with a stock D5.

PTE listing is stock to 2800, regardless of housing, journel or ball bearing. It is the direct replacement for the 44 and 49.

I'm just putting my experience out there. My stock D5 did not spool my TE44 to my liking. But I have a precision housing and everyone states that the garret housing makes it work. I'm sure the PTE website does state that it'll work fine though. :)

Yeah...the Pres .63 housing actually is closer to .70. That will make a difference, but it will work. Spending cash on a new Convertor is not necessary to run it. It can be updated at a later date. Unlike adding a 5957 or larger that would def need a Convertor to work at all.

Wow! Didn't realize the Precision was that open. I'm running my TE44 with "all the boost" so I wonder how many mph I'd lose with a garret housing?

About zero hp

Then why doesn't precision tighten up their housing to work with more TC's?

Probably because it's not cost effective to keep producing these housings to a niche market. I don't know of any other application they are used. It appears they use 2 castings to cover at least 10 different turbines. To make them so every wheel is sitting in a housing that will create an ideal condition and actual a/r would probably not be worth it.

I currently have a 3000 stall and running a te-44 turbo and it runs great is this turbo a real upgrade for me
