Completed the installation of engine trans in an 04 Cobra today (6th car, gotta love Ford engineering vs hot rodders!). Lowered the car on the cradle at 10:30 am and it was running and driving at 4pm. Much easier than any of the LS1 cars. We also did a "cab off" on a Lightning a couple weeks ago (3rd truck, first time pulling the cab, we removed the other 2 conventionally).

It looks like it makes life easier that way for sure. I dred the day I have to R&R the motor in my truck...hopefully I'll have some money saved up to pay someone to do ti ;)

Still a Ferd:tongue: That is cool though. A friend just had to put head gaskets on a 96 Vette here at my shop, what a PITA! I got a Z-28 same year needs the same thing. He said that one is even worse:eek: I am not looking forward to that.

How hard was the cab off on the lightning? I got another friend with a 03 F-250 SD that we may have to pull:eek:

haha...mods in general and HP?

Before we pulled it apart it made 530 to the wheels, it had burned a piston and lost compression on one cyl. We used the stock crank and rods and put a better set of pistons in it along with a new Romeo block. We cleaned up the heads and put 4 custom grind cams in it. It has a Whipple charger on it, full length headers, larger CAC and the usual bolt on stuff. I am looking for about 625-650 rwhp on pump gas at 22psi and if not....we'll spray it!

LT1 Z28 is easier to do from the bottom, drop the cradle replace the head gaskets and raise it back in the car. Should take about 11-12 hrs

Cab off on the Lightning is not that hateful, it takes less time to do it that way than it does pulling it from the top. 03 F250 SD a 6.0 PSD? Head gaskets and stud installation? Just had my dealer do 2 of them for us last year.......under warranty, they were easy!Drop it off, $100 deductable, $550 for studs, you're in business!!:D

11-12hrs:eek: that would explain the reason it was cheap:rolleyes:

On the 250 it is way out of warranty 16?k! A local ford dealer said they'd do it for $1100. Guess you are right let them have at it!!!!!!

Dyno'd it Friday, it made 592rwhp at 6200 on 93 octane. The boost is set at 18#. I am probably going to put a bigger crank pulley on it to get the boost up a couple pounds, lookin for at leat 625. The car is a HANDFUL on the street!

The new '08 Super Duty has reversed bolted body mounts. The head of the bolt faces the ground. If any work need to be done, the cab is being lifted. Picked up a 2008 SD brochure from the dealer and it was a highlight.
