Is the stock froward drum in the 200r4 black in color? I bought a used 200r4 that had a hardened stator, and Hardened art-carr input shaft. Just wondering if the forward drum might be hardened or stock? I can take pics and send them if needed?

No, the stock forward drum assembly is natural steel color. Sounds like you've got one that's been black oxided.

So what does that exactly mean? Is it stronger or is it just black to be pretty:D

TIA

Got me.

One thing's for sure though. Someone's been messing with it. Whether or not it's better is debatable. Call Art Carr to see if they know about it.

check to see if it has a weld next to the lube hole on the drum side ,if it does its hardened ,this process does make the drum stronger but we like to use our 9310 steel shaft forward drum manufactured in ny by ck performance .you now have many choices on this part as 5 companies now make an upgraded drum .scott mclay in calif was the first ,however newer ones are stronger .www.ckperformance.com
