Having dealt with two stolen cars, all I can say is good luck. I've found law enforcement to be totally useless for anything other than writing traffic violations.

I promise you out here you would have got your stuff. my boy bought a motor off craigslist, turned out it was stolen just by owner identifying parts no receipts etc = car got impounded & he had to pay for motor to be removed.

Did the machine shop stamp any of the part so that they could identify them? All of mine were stamped with the number on the receipt.

There are some very good ideas here - sounds like you need to e-mail Chuck to get some ideas to ID the car.

I hope those thieves are not listening to all this - they might just learn how to get away with the crime.

No offense taken. I supervise several of them on a daily basis. Trust me, I am well aware of useless cops who need a fire lit under their azz daily to get them to do their job. Every profession has their 10% ers...

you guys are FAR to kind, , i had a gn stolen from me and had my mechanic called me and told me he was looking at my engine, I would have grab'd my kimber and went down there with my own cherry-picker and yanked my motor right out of the car, , after i yanked it and placed it in a secure area , i would have waited on the MOF's and let them know I GOT MY SHIZZ BACK !! . Believe me, I made the mistake of working ( and crazqban-know how deep i was in) and trusting the police, all for nothing !! they told me " well if they don't have any vin#s we can't prove it's stolen , here i am thinking it's illegal to erase a vin# , take back what's your and let them prove that it was their engine. Sorry guys, i still get upset when i hear of a buick being stolen.
