Will carb cleaner hurt the trans frictions if used to clean them? I've got a trans full of second gear band debris and want to do a good cleaning of the trans before re-assemble.

TIA

Brake cleaner dries quicker and with less residue.

What I'm concerned about is that the cleaner/solovent could loosen/disolve the adhesive that hold the friction material to the steel??

The second gear band is toast and I'm wanting to get as much of the black/burned band off the frictions, but I don't want to ruin the frictions!!

...or am I a worry wart:>)

HOW

The brake clean works best for the reasons mentioned above. No need to soak them in it, just spray them off really good, give them plenty of time to dry in open air, and when it comes time for reassembly make sure you soak them in a bucket of fresh atf for 1/2 hour or so before sticking them in. Hope this helps.
