Front Swaybar Question

Anybody have a solution to the clamps / bushings not fitting the g-body?

I have the complete set here... swaybar, bushings and clamps.

Energy Suspension

Waiting for that answer myself! I got a hollow 36 but the brackets don't match. Frame drill and tap looks like the only option. Wifes car is kind squirly on the corners!

Hope I can help ya answer this question. You use the bushings from the camaro/firebird etc. But you use the buick original brackets, they go right over the bushing. Its how I have mine setup and it works fine, no drilling and tapping. I ordered a set of poly bushings from spohn performance. I believe spohnperformance.com but not sure.

I was looking under a bud's Chev tonight and he has a Hotchkis bar with large bushings and clamps. They have grease nipples on them. The bar looks about the same as the F-1LE bar here so perhaps this is an option?

I no longer have the factory clamps as they were replace 14 years ago with energy suspension bushings / clamps.

so go to the junkyard and yank the clamps off a cutlass or regal. Same thing, just 4 10mm bolts.:D

Did your swaybar and bushings look like this?

Notice the clamps do not fully wrap around the bushings.

The bushings have some extra meat hanging off the bottom so they are not flush.

Are you saying that the stock Buick clamp will make it around this extra large bushing?

I was looking at energy suspension and they have a 35mm setup for GM trucks:

Just want to be 100% on this before I break my back changing this out. There seems to be a few changeups in the GM parts database so what one person has might not be the same as the next.

Thanks!

Jack, yes the bolt holes on the chevy/pontiac clamps do not match up. As far as I know, the stock buick ones are a bit deeper. I also forgot to mention that I am currently running a 34mm because I got some dough for a 36 that I couldnt turn down. Just by looking at the picture, I am going to make an assumption. IT looks like you have the chevy brackets there and the 36mm bar bushings. Well if all that goes together, then I would take a guess that the bushing probably sits up in there a bit on the chevy. (unlike being flush on the buicks) Go get a buick bracket, 4-10mm bolts is all the brackets are to remove. Just go in and out of a U-pull-it self serve auto parts, and snatch yourself some brackets. I got mine off a base regal. Not too back breaking in my opinion. Not to mention, you dont wanna be drilling any more holes in your car until its swiss cheese. Just get those brackets and go from there and see where you end up. Let me know what you find.
