we dropped the tank...all of my previous fuel issues are explained. The pump blew the line off. New line in place and clamped down. Holds pressure when you key it off now and the egts are getting more tame. 1600 solid at wot 3 inches off the head in #3...lab race probe, so that should be ok if no knock from what I was told on THAT probe.
But, it's still leaking a little fuel out of the vent line. Unless there was residual in there from the previous run. I'm curious if the pump install prior to me buying the car had someone swap the return and vent lines. Can someone get me a piture from under car labeling which fuel line is which...there is 12" of softline before the tank...that's where it's always been disconnected dropping the tank..so if it got swapped...it was swapped there. Also, a photo would be great. the lines on either side are fairly straight but the rubber hose on the middle one has a hint of an s shape to it..like there is enough slack it could've been somewhere else.

Also, could I not plug that line and get a vented gas cap?

From tank there are 3 hard metal lines connected to hoses not very long
connected to 3 hard lines attached to frame.

I had sort of the same problem but i have fuel coming out of the charcoal canister after it spooled up. It ended up being the one way vacum check valves. there are i believe 2 in egr vacum and 1 going to the canister to vent fumes off the tank. Easy check ther is an arrow on them try to blow opposite of the arrow if you can blow throgh it replace them. Hope this helps.

so the metal lines connect straight across, correct? No criss crossing of the rubber lines? Mine connects straight across.

AND

I don't have a vac. line connected to the canister...it's capped at the manifold and the sensor is open atmosphere on the canister. I thought something in the canister could be the problem so I yanked the vent line off the canister and left it open atmosphere. That's where I could see it leak. I'm going to drive it tomorrow if no rain and I'll let ya'll know if it still leaks.
