Been replacing a lot of parts, so numerous connectors aren’t connected. Everything worked fine before I started playing. Before I put all the parts back on, I’d like to check the new injectors at the fuel rail for leaks by just turning the key without engaging the starter, but the pump won’t kick in. No fuel in the rail. Hotwire to the pump was never disconnected. Battery is charged. Computer wire is connected. Ignition module & coil pack are not installed. Neither is the wiring harness to the injectors. If it means anything, the power master does kick in. Continue educating me, please. Am I missing a connection someplace, or is there a problem? Thanks

If you’re just wanting to run the fuel pump to check for leaks there is a fuel pump ‘test’ connector by the alternator. (Assuming you have an 86/87)

There are two ‘open’ connectors by the alternator. The green one is a tach signal the other black connector will run the fuel pump if you put 12volts to it. I usually disconnect the under hood light and plug it into it to run the fuel pump. Or you can jumper a wire from the positive post on the alternator to it.

Tried that. Nothing. It’s an 87. All pump stuff worked fine. I didn’t mess with any of the connections to the pump. Car has an ignition cutout alarm system. It’s okay because I can turn the engine over with the key. Frustrated - but everything does that with one of these cars, right?

Check the wiring harness, at the tank and see if you are getting the required 12vdc to the pump?
