So im trying to hook up my eletric sending unit for my fp guage. I purchased a -4 couplingg threaded my sending unit on.Took shraeder valve out threaded coupling w sending unit on turned key on no leak. Great I thought. Turn car on and it started leaking. Couldnt see feom where I just shut it down asap! Did I do something wrong? I used tape on threads.. maybe the treads on fuel rail are fubared?

Teflon tape is ok on fuel lines. I have never had it dissolve from fuel........EVER. Try to re torque it and see what happens. Are you using -4AN fittings? If it is a 45* fitting that is your issue.

Im using -4an directly to the rail. Its a coupling that summit sells. The wierd part is it only leaked when I started it not when I put key on and powered up pump

Wasn't on long enuf. Only "hit it" for a few seconds.

There is no reason to put thread tape on AN and JIC fittings. The threads are not the sealing surface. The flare and bevel seal to each other. AN/JIC fittings are used on high pressure hydraulic systems and they won't leak a drop if they are in good shape. Take the tape off and ensure there are no pieces left in the system and put your AN fitting back on without the tape.

Instructions say to use tape or sealing compound where the sender attaches. I used paste with no problems. My first blue AN fitting lasted a year. Then it leaked. I replaced it with a black fitting that lasted a few days. I concluded (probably incorrectly) that those should not be used for high pressure fuel injection. http://www.autometer.com/download_instruction/783h.pdf
