Thats right, another fuel system problem. The other day i was cruising and my car just puttered and died. I had a pretty good hunch it was fuel. Checked the guage under the hood and sure enough there was no fuel pressure. The fuel pump is two weeks old and haven't had a single problem with the Walbro 307. So, i checked the hotwire fuse--good, and the connections on the alternator--seemed ok, reset the ecm, checked the pressure--none. I was in a hurry so called a tow truck to take her home. Got in the car and fuel pressure was there. Turned around and headed home. It died 2 miles later. Did the same routine with no luck. Towed her home. I went to my prior engagement. Got home and I went to work, but the car fired right up. Loose wire right? Checked all connections couldn't find a short or a loose wire. Checked relays--ok. now im scared to take it far from the house because i dont want to have to call another tow truck. It hasn't given me any other problem though--what could it be that I haven't checked. Please don't say fuel pump--that is the last step.

A few years back I bought a used honda and started having the same problems a week after I bought it. I checked everything. Finally I broke down and dropped the tank. I found a aftermarket fuel pump that was cutting out intermittently. Replaced it with a used OE from the wreckers and all was fine.

Long story short, there might be a chance your 307 is bad:( Hopefully not and you find the fix without dropping the tank.

good luck,

Hate to say it, but all the data points back to the pump...
If you have rust in your tank, it can clog the pump, and cause it to overheat, which then slows it down or kills it completely. It sounds like yours cuts out after it heats up. Pulling the tank and replacing the pump is really a simple one man job. I realize it's not the most fun thing to do, but, it sure sounds like you'll be doing it again regardless. I'd certainly check for rust in the tank, to make sure you don't knock out yet another, if the pump is truly bad.
The only other thing I can suggest beforehand, is to make sure the fuel pressure regulator is not going bad. You can buy a junkyard 237 for about $10, and use it to check against yours.
Hope this helps...

A long shot, but I've had a relay hang up on me. With the hot wire setup, you have 2 relays which could be causing problems. A light tap on the relays when you lose pressure will give you a good idea of the relays conditions.

This was an ongoing problem for about 6 months for me until one day at work the fuel pump just wouldn't turn on. It turns out it was the relay for me. I would go to radio shack and get a $5 relay and try that before I replaced the pump.

I would carry a test light or meter, and check voltage to the pump at the rear of the car when this happens. As close as the tank as possible would be best. That will rule out the relays.

pump

Find a way to put 12 volts to the pump when the car quits. You should be able to hear the pump run. Also, somtimes to get a car home with a bad pump you can tap the gas tank with a rubber mallet. The vibration will get the pump to run again.Bruce

I know where one relay is--on the fender closest to the fire wall on the relay bracket. Where is the other relay? Everyone, thanks for all the good advice. I drove it around last night with absolutely no problem. But it still bothers me that I didn't absolutley fix the problem.

The location of the other relay depends on how your hot wire system is set up. My hot wire relay is located behind the gas tank where the wires go on top of the tank. Sometimes this relay might catch moisture if located similar as mine and die for a while. A friend of mine had this happen to his car and he just reconnected the original wiring for the pump and it worked fine again. Find out where your hot wire relay is and check that.
