My son works part time at an Advance Auto Parts while he is going to school. He just ordered a Hooker catback exhaust for my GN though the store. Part # 16810 HKR retail price $285.89. Just thought maybe someone else would like have the part # so they could order at their local store or order online and pick it up at their local store. Cost a couple of dollars more then Jegs but you save the shipping cost.:D

summit sells for 290 it and theyshipped it to me free

Picked up my exhaust tonight. It came with aero chamber mufflers PN 85545 and a test pipe. Looks like a great exhaust for the price. Can't wait to put it on. I plan on installing the exhaust myself in my garage using jack stands. I could use a little advice.

1) The instructions say that the car needs to be 36" off the ground for installation. No way using jack stands. Do you really have to have the car up 36"?

2.) The instructions also recommend welding the exhaust in place. Anyone just use the clamps provide in the kit?

3.) Currently have the original exhaust on the car. Will I notice a set of the pants performance increase with the Hooker system and test pipe(only for testing).

4.) About how much time did it take you to install the exhaust if you did yourself? I have done exhuast work in the past, not new to crawling around under a car.

Thanks for your help. Zach

Zach, congrats on your purchase - you'll like the exhaust. No problem on stands, just get it as high as you can and take a sawzall (or hacksaw if you're REAL ambitous) and start paring off the old exhaust. The need for the height comes from threading the tailpipes over the axle. If you chop the devil out of the old exhaust, no problem. The clamps work fine to secure it, it'll rust fast soon enough:D. Definitely use the test pipe. I'm guessing you could spend a couple of hours on the ground changing this stuff with a decent tool supply. On a lift it's a 1/2 hour job. If you've got a torch (converter bracket bolts) AND a sawzall it gets even easier. HTH

I installed mine with the car on jack stands although i did have the gas tank out at the time, dont know if it really matters. I also used the clamps only. I have been running it for over two years with no problems.

Thanks Turbo T/A 1543, and squeeze87.

My son in law has always been a Pontiac fan and has owned several T/A's in the past. When he first started dating my daughter I took him for a ride in my GSX. He was impressed, but could not sway him to a Buick. After I bought my GN 2 years ago. I took him for a ride in it. Still loves Pontiacs, but now he is hoping to find a Turbo T/A. Best of both worlds for him.
Thanks again Zach
