Who wants to play" The Insurance adjuster"

He looked at my car today to see the paint damage on the hood and fender. Looks like brake fluid dripped onto the hood and ran down about 8 inches. Took the paint off. The top of the passenger fender has 5 little spots where something ate thru the paint. Try to guess what they will offer to get it fixed. Good luck!!!! I should know the ansewer before noon tommorrow.

Fender and hood plus blend minus 500.00 deductible. 1987 value plus depreciation

650.00

BW

If it's the GN, and the original paint and they're getting it back to original...I'm thinking it's going to be expensive, around $2,500.

Shows what I know about painting. I was thinking 600 tops.

For regular paint (base/clear) with little to no metal work, you'd be in the ball park. The laquer they used on G-bodies however is a little hard to come by these days.

AJ if your body guy has estimater he should give you the rite amount..if you need a estimate call me .Ihave a estimater I'll tell you what they should give you..

be prepped for a gut shot

you know how adjusters are, like my workers comp. " ah that's nothing some superglue and some duct tape won't fix ". from the sound of that post if those were his exact words he may be looking at you smiling. i'd get a few estimates at some reputable body shops. That way it gives you a few ideas of what you looking at. but then again i'm sure there are a few of those on this board. you know what i love about where i live? i've got about 5 freinds i can take my car to and know it'll get done right and not real expensive. one works at lockheed painting planes (15 yrs exp) and well you get the pic. good luck

nothing wrong with someone who see's it on their level and knows the games they play. i know you have die hard customers, my wife went to school with a girl who's dad owns a shop down the street from our house. he's honest, and doesn't mind letting you know your getting screwed infront of the adjuster. i've seen an adjuster in his shop dealing with him on someone elses car and this was my 1st time in. we're in the office and he has a big sliding glass window that lets you see his shop. this adjuster is making faces after he hands over the est and they walk out and looked it over and the guy is telling him stuff and pointing stuff out that he missed or over looked. if i'm in an accident and have to use a place trust me i know who i'm going to and he's a small shop but is fair and goes good work. Of course that's only if i have someone hit me or i have to claim it.

your a smart man.. big corp shop they work for the[ins not for the customer they aloud[OEM part and they put AM parts that kill me stealing from a customer:mad:the INS call them refferal shop!!

If it's over $1500.00 he'll probably want to "total" it and give you nothing while taking your car and selling it at auction. LOL
NEVER trust an insurance company.
All kidding aside, this is a good opportunity to get the whole car painted. If it still has the factory paint you are just on hold until it begins to spider web. If they only want to paint half the car go ahead and complete the job, assuming you can afford to. Base coat clear coat is far superior to the lacquer that the factory used. Also make sure it is stripped to metal. If they scuff and paint the factory primer will break down eventually and you will have the same problems later.
Good luck. ;)

yea i know what's going on most of the time or can read people sometimes when i think i'm getting shined on. salesmen at heart, hustler by trade, i've worked for big corp and quit a few good job because it lacked ALOT of morals and other stuff going on. one thing that kills me is when this happens. i've walked away from several jobs when things aren't right. i could pitch just about anything, and get along with most.

i've heard about alot of shops doing that didn't know which does and doesn't until the guy my wife knows schooled me to what goes on in your business maybe not all but some. i can image the profit margin between buying new and used. i know i sell used stuff all the time, can't shake the hustler in me, gotta put a few bucks in my pocket when i can. always said i like to make the long money then the short money if you know what i mean.

estimate is in

Well the estimate is in. $1700 is the number with one big problem. They said I was 450 miles over my allotted miles and might not cover it.
