Im thinking of Buying a new 2500HD with a 6.0L and 4.10 gears I was just wandering if anyone one here might have one and could give me the feed back of gas milage I was hoping for like 15 highway. Thanks

I just bought one with the Duramax TurboDiesel Engine and I get about 22-23 average. That's about 20 miles to work every day, 14 of it highway.

I love this truck. We pulled Scott Simpson's GN behind it to the track a couple weeks ago and I couldn't even really tell it was behind me.

And now I have all Turbocharged vehicles too!! The GN, the truck and the Eclipse! A garage full of boost. Gotta love it.

So anyways, sorry, back to your question. If yer put out the cash for a 2500HD, then go ahead and spring for the diesel. You'll be happy you did.

When'd you get that?? I remember when you bought the last truck. Damn son... got enough turbos.

Hrmm... pulling Scott Simpsons car to the track... I'm sure it was lighter pulling it home... with the weight of head gasket material being gone. :p

DOH did I say that?

Gas milage

My Dad just bought a GMC 2500HD 2WD 4 Door 6.0 and 4:10's.
He claimed 14 mpg on an out of state trip not towing anything.

I get 17+ with my 02 suburban with the 5.3 combined driving:D

I have an 01 and 02 3500 with the Duramax and you really can't beat it for towing. That motor makes 300 hp and over 500 lbs of torque at the flywheel stock. There are people racing them at the track, putting down numbers in the low 14's, high 13's in the quarter. Amazing motor!

I have the 8.1L with the Allison tranny and 4.10 gears. I love the truck, sometimes! :) It gets about 13 (empty), so you can guess what it does with the enclosed trailer behind it. I don't see why you could not squeeze 15 out of the 6.0L. If you went to 3.73's you'd definitely make it, but may not have the towing capacity that you want.

My next one will probably be a Duramax. For a diesel, they are exceptionally quiet!

I have an 02 GMC 2500hd with the 6.0 4.10 gears, I get about 13 or a little better on the road and about 10.8 mpg last week when I towed my car to TT4 in Oregon last week, for what I use the truck for, towing my Buick, you do not IMHO need anything bigger.
The 6.0 has plenty of poop, I was concerned at first that it would lack power, but not any more, I would reccommend the 6.0.

ps my rig is a 4x4

6.0 L with 4.10 gears and you were worried about lack of power?? You've been around TRs too long?? Never enough power!!:D

The wife has a 2000 2500 Yukon XL with 4.10's and 60K miles and the best it has EVER gotten is 13.8 mpg (never achieved 14).

It has Iron heads (the new ones maybe AL, which should help mileage), but I got the same mileage with my V10 Ram than had 100 more lbft of torque. I wouldn'd recommend the Iron head 6.0 to anyone - boat anchor (though my wife seems to love it  )

I get 14mpg doing strickly highway at 75mph. With alittle town driving, it quickly drops to mid 12's. It gets 13.5mpg with an empty trailer on the highway, and mid 10's loaded, but I'm never easy on it. Mine is a '02 2500HD ext cab short bed 2wd with a 6.0 and 4.10 gears.
