I'm a believer in using synthetic motor oil. I've seen this give a 1-2 mpg increase in a variety of cars. It's more expensive, but the other benefits make it worthwhile for me (reduced engine wear, no turbo coking, longer change interval, etc.). Synthetics may help somewhat in the tranny and diff, too.
Improving aerodynamics also helps. Keep windows up on hwy, remove anything on the car that causes drag, make sure your wipers are retracted. Lowering the car may help (less air getting under the car and causing drag, less of the tires exposed to wind, etc). Remove weight, too. The less weight you're hauling around, the less that motor is working.
Above all, drive smooth and steady and make sure your tires are inflated properly. It usually helps mpg to add a few pounds more pressure than the recommended amount.
