Gas Tank w/ Rear Sump??

I'm upgrading my fuel system. Going with external pump. Need a tank with rear sump. Thought about buying a new tank and installing a sump.

Is there an alternative? Does anyone make an aftermarket tank with rear sump, GM sending unit, & fill spout that will fit (using stock-type straps) in our stock location? Car is street-driven with occasional trips to drag strip.

We have access to a 6.2 gallon fuel cell that fits the spare tire well of the G-body and accomodates the stock pump hanger and/or an external pump. We also have the adapter separately that allows the use of the stock hanger with any fuel cell.

Thanks for the reply. I already have a Metco spare tire tank but it is too small for my needs. Can you send me info (link or ???) on the adaptor? Sounds interesting.

Hey Conrad...

The fuel cell adapter is the same unit included with the in-tank spare tire well fuel cell. It will mount to any fuel cell with minor mods to the cell and allow the use of the stock GM hanger.
The adapter is billet aluminum and retails for $129.95. I'll see if I can find some pics of the unit by itself.
