I am in school now and I don't have the money or time to keep up my car so I am thinking of selling it.

How much would you pay?

87 GN. Basically stock setup. 110K, T-Tops with no leaks. Paint is decent but not great. New Dunlop GT Qualifier 265 tires in back. Posi rear (G80). All new turbo hoses, vacuum lines, radiator, boost hoses, header leak welded, tranny cooler, boost gauge. All proper badging. CD player. Tranny shifts firm and crisp. A/C compressor works but needs a recharge.

Only flaws are the rear main appears to have a small leak and the front seats are not in good shape (some tears and sun fade from it being a California car).

My guess would be 6-7k. Market seems a little soft on them right now. I have a deal going right now with a guy and his 86 1 owner car, t-tops fully loaded for 6 grand. 58,000 mile car.

The GN is a pretty solid investment car and people like Hemmings agree.

The key is the quality and originality of the car. People outside the GN circle looking to aquire one will most likely look for a low mileage original car. As these cars continue to increase in value, the trickle down theory will apply.

87's seem to bring the highest dollar, so you have that going for you.

Why not put the car in storage and come back to it when you can afford to do so? They will only be more expensive if you decide you want another one.

If you do sell, don't get talked into giving it away. Look at NADA, e-bay, and consider what the car is worth to you also. Then take your time and sell it. I had people tell me my TTA wasn't worth more than 12,500 and ended up getting several offers for close to 14,500. Be sure it is really clean and detailed when you sell it, and have fresh fluids in it, maintenance records, etc. to show it has been cared for.

I recently paid 17k for a 26,000 mile car if that helps you. I would have paid more because the car was in that nice of condition. I saw a 137 mile GN sell for 30K not too long ago. This is the opposite end of the spectrum, but it gives you some ideas about how GN's as whole are doing.

Good Luck.

I bought mine May of 2004 with 62,xxx for 11750. It looked great when I got it.

Now it looks ok
70,xxxmiles

Mine's in the process of being sold for over $20k. I guess it just depends....

Thanks guys for the opinions.

I really don't want to get rid of it, but at this point I don't have the time or money to invest in making it a fun track or cruising car. Ideally, I would hang on to it and fully restore it in a few years.

We'll see -- It's hard to part with something that has your blood, sweat, and tears on it.
