i am getting up parts to put a 400 in my car.i know i am going to miss the overdrive. my question is who has found an overdrive unit in a motor camper? i have a salvage yard close and have seen a couple motor campers in the yard but didn't ever look at the drivetrain. i think ck sells them used......thanks Bob

that's a good question :) i was hoping maybe someone has stumbled upon one. i think i read it on the gear venders website that some motor homes have them. i am going to be looking though.........................Bob

why not build up the 2004r? they can do very well when properly done.
most of them overdrive units had either a over or a underdrive from your output rpm

The 2004r will cost you about $2500 to build to be durable with billet parts, and a transbrake. Also it will require freshening quite often, if you abuse it on the street and track. If you can;t do it yourself it becomes expensive overtime, and in my opinion it is silly to pump money into it almost each season.

People have went faster with a 400 in the same car that had a 200 in them before. The gear vendor overdrive is rated for 1200 hp continuous and peak torque of 4500 ft lbs. I don;t think you will ever break one in your life.
The disadvantage being the weight and only a .78 ratio.

for the money that i will spend on a 200 i can get the 400 with the gear venders overdrive and i will not have to worry about freshing it up every couple of years. you can also take a 400 locally to have it freshed. i have rode in a gn with the 400 and it isn't that bad...banging the gears is fun too  i am looking for reliability that doesn't cost a fortune...i think the gear venders overdrive adds 32 lbs......................................Bob

You can get new ones on ebay, from some dealers, you get a little bit off the list price that way!
