Has anyone had a car shipped to them for a pretty far distance? I'm looking at a potential Supra that fits my "checks/needs" very well and there are none around here that are cars im interested in... that has been checked for the past 2 months across the country...

So I got a quote to ship it from CA to PA for around 600$ which I thought was rather reasonable.

Is the actual shipping process a bad idea? Anybody had bad experiences with doing this?

$600 across country is rather cheap. Obviously not on an enclosed trailer. I have shipped several cars across country, are you looking for a quality, enclosed trailer or the cheapest method possible? Where in PA?

I just had my stage engine shipped and had two companies in a bidding war started at 360 and ended at 160. go to frieght quote.com and do a quote.

IDK if enclosed trailer is something i need... idk you tell me :) I guess it could get rained on, but for a car that's been garaged, a week through the us, no snow is fine IMO...

The reason i think it is cheaper is because it is terminal to terminal... door to terminal is about 200$ more... door to door is another 200 or so...

I suppose if it's insured it really doesnt matter?!

That is your call if you want an enclosed trailer. Personally I really didn't want my cars riding 3,000 miles exposed to a lot more than weather. What is the value of the car?

As far as insurance, look at that closely. Your insurance company will cover it in transport, except generally when getting the insurance with the transport company, there is no deductable. I am sure at that cost it is being brokered, and depending on where it is and where the final destination is, may take a little while to get.

If the cost of transporting is most important, then go at the best rate you can get.

Car is in $20-30k range... haven't worked out the final cost yet.

I don't think i have to worry about bugs since it will be on a truck... no bugs get deflected into the cars... I guess I'm still not to keen on why I would need an enclosed trailer... I dont have a garage for it here anyway, it will just get covered. What does an enclosed trailer cost over that?

???

Remember, you get what you pay for. Generally speaking, the care the moving company takes with your car will be inversely proportional to the price they charge.

Using a quality, reputable transport company will run you anout $1500.00

I wouldn't worry much about bugs. I'd be more concerned about road debris, and not to mention, fluids from all the other cars on the transport.

I certainly wouldn't transport a $20-30K car the cheapest way possible, but that is me.

Yes... I guess it doesn't make much sense does it... for what the car is, I suppose it would be bad if something happened. Maybe I'll just take some shipping out of the seller's hide... I have to work out price anyway.

I used Intercity Lines to ship my Buick. They are as good as it gets.

I have heard positives about them. I just had them quote for a car I am possibly bringing from Northern CA to SE Florida, they were a little high. I have always used Horseless Carriages, and they are great. HC was $200 cheaper for the same run.

I love the fact you can eat off the hardwood floors of these quality companies. Like you said earlier, you get what you pay for.
