Just saw on the 11 o'clock news that at one gas station in El Cajon, CA, premium has hit ....... ready for it....

$4.29

per gallon. Ouch!

Why anybody lives/stays in Cali is beyond me...

premium is still $1.80 here.

Why anybody PAYS that much is beyond me. Stop buying gas and the lack of demand will lower the cost.

After I reported that price last night I got to thinking about it. I wonder if that gas station raised their prices just to get on the national news.

If all the gas stations in CA were much higher than the rest of the nation I'm sure the CA guys on this BB would be moaning about it.

Our local premium is still just under $2.00.....$1.97.

Hi, Chris, when you comin back down, its only 1.93 here, for now
that is.
Ron

I don't know where some of these stories come from. 87 octane around the Los Angeles area is running around $2.13 a gallon. Haven't paid much attention to premium prices since my GN only burns race fuel, but premium is never more than about 15 cents a gallon more. So figure somewhere around $2.30 a gallon for premium. Expensive, yes. 4 bucks a gallon, hardly.

$1.57 gallon for 87 here in Berks County, PA.
What the hecks up with those Calif prices!

gas/diesel prices

i just made a trip to the bay area and the highest was 2.89 for preimum mostly 2.25-2.50 and deisel was only alittle less

One of the explanations is that CA has if my memory serves me correct, right around 30 cents a gallon tax between the feds and the state. Someone has to pay to maintain all the miles of freeway we have out here. With only a couple exceptions we don't have to pay tolls like a lot of you all back east have to. They just make up for it with a higher tax at the pump. I guess it evens out somewhat. The rest of the difference I chalk up to plain old price gouging by the oil companies.

In the paper today it said California, Hawaii, and right here in Nevada where the three highest gas prices. Keeps going up every day.

California also has a supply problem right now. They are mandated to use a special formulation of fuel containing ethanol unlike the remaining 49 states. The deadline to begin using this fuel was within the past couple weeks. Reference.

Our big problem in Nevada is that we get our gas from the same refineries in Ca, hence the same prices as Ca. Rich (from California East):( :(

And only people like us will ever follow a reason as to why Ca gas is going up. The media will only blame "bad ole oil Companies" as the reason. Ethanol is a crock. It actually causes more smog to produce and it doesnt yeild as much energy when burned. Ca. can crack off as far as Im concerned and take all its whack jobs with it. 'Cept for the TR folks.

If you're going to rip California at least come up with some new material. Do tell, what little slice of heaven do you hail from?

No need for new material, the failed liberal policies are enough. Banning fireplaces, Illegal immigration, draconian emissions insp. cost of living, give me a break. You'll conside me inbred and Downs to say this but it is growth that ruins previously nice places. Sure, its all in what you want. One man's heaven could very well be another's hell. But to me growth never brings with it what it is touted to bring. Taxes go up, traffic becomes dangerous, housing becomes scarce and expensive, trash is thrown everwhere, skilled craftsman become harder to find. People adapt with anger and disenfranchisement.
Im in Birmingham and growth is fast ruining the way of life here too as the S.E is growing fastest of all regions. Hell, as kids we rode 20 -60 miles a day in once bucolic and pastoral suburbs. We had the perfect mix of city and country. Now you would be killed in the first 5 minutes. Traffic reports in nearby Atlanta always iclude fatalities. That's bull****. That could be your loved ones one day. And for what , so you could be hip and cool and be associated with a growing progressive area.
So , my little slice of Heaven has been removed by time. The Norman Rockwell type America is gone forever and growth will erode it ever further. I also once loved Ca 25 plus years ago. But growth AND liberal government is just too much to take so Im glad to be located in what you will surely call red neck country.

That is funny. I have a 55 gal drum of 110 that was only 4.50/gal. Looks more and more tempting to run that stuff anyways.:D

Reg. in Reno is $1.93 most places. I live 37 miles away in a small town and paid $1.89. First time I have seen it cheaper here than in Reno.
And I would love to stop buying gas so the price will lower, I guess I can get a bike for the 75 mile round trip to work.

A REAL man would jog !! :D

Funny you should mention that your small town gas is now cheaper than the big city gas. Same here.

We live 50 miles north of a large city where the gas has always been 5 to 10 cents per gallon cheaper. In the last month it's been cheaper to buy it in our small town.

Wha' hell boy, we's bin standin' about chewing on our straw wonderin' wha the hells goin' on.:)
