In the last couple of days, I did a 1,000 miles of driving thur the mid-west, and while not as scenic as that, and with the corn and beans just drying while waiting to be harvested, I still just dig driving thur America.

100 miles of road and a 6 pack riding shotgun, t tops off , and some Blues Brothers glasses...

... 120 miles to Chicago. Got a full tank of gas. Half a pack of Cigarettes. It's dark, and I'm wearing sunglasses.

Hit it.

Lee, you're my hero! I've been trying to get myself to ship my TTA to the east coast during fall. Drive up to Maine from S. Carolina. AMAZING pictures.

On a side note, what kind of camera did you use? I have a Sony F-717. Killer camera. But I can't seem to get good pics from this monster.

Thanks for the kind words....

I'm using a Fuji S7000. Very happy with it. Its a little too large for my wife's preference, and a little too small for mine....A compromise with no disapointments. Between $500-600 three years ago, bound to be less now. It uses AA batteries (buy them anywhere) and has 35mm to 135mm zoom, huge memory stick all the good stuff. I asked my wife to step out of the picture because I was going to post it at TB.com ;)

Was an awesome day. Good enough to count as the best day of 10,000 days. No WOT during the trip. :D

I share your joy of driving cross country Bruce! :)

Although I've lived in big cities for the last 20 years, I'm still a Wyoming country boy at heart. I enjoy the old houses, barns, livestock, crops, and the topography. Used to be a helicopter pilot; then and now, I still never tire of looking out the window -instead of at the tube :)

Wow - being the naive New Englander, I didn't realize the leaves turned already out that way. I'll be driving from CT to Quebec on Thursday, so I'll see where the foliage line is up this way.

If you ever drive from SC to Maine, you need to go thru VT and NH and then into Maine, especially the White Mountains in NH. The Kangamangus (sp) Highway gets crowded but is amazing and the lake regions are gorgeous.

Maine is big state and is very sparse outside the coast. Acadia park is a way's up but is another amazing place and the shoreline is beautiful almost everywhere.

Man, it's not even close to looking like that here in Texas. Usually doesn't until the middle of November.

SOMEDAY we want to make a drive like that in New England, I guess you can see the "mother-of-all-colors" in FAll.

The leaves in my pictures are between 9,000 and 10,000 feet in elevation....Its already freezing every night up there. Down to 35 degrees several nights here at 6,500 elevation....Good reason for the colors to change early.

:D
