Can someone please tell the difference between a 200r4 out of a monte carlo and the GN unit?

If I get a 200r4 out of a monte carlo could it be built to hold the same power as the built GN trannys? I'm not worried about the VB because i want to run a manual VB.

Im lookin for something to hold 700HP with raceweight of 3300lbs.
I need OD so the 3 speeds are out of the question.

If it's a MCSS and has the true CZF code trannie you won't even need the man. VB unless you want it. If you going to replace the VB anyway you don't even need it to be a performace 200-4r just any one will do but you will need the Billet servo and gov. but if you want it to live at 700hp you had better follow the "strenghtening 200-4r" article. If you go w/the manual VB from TCI and if it's from TCI you can count on it being good as for everything else you need including the trannie itself or someone to build to last for you go here http://www.2004rPerformanceCenter.com/

PS. if it's a CZF trannie you get and don't use the VB let me know and I'll buy it from you.

Yeah I kinda want to run a manual VB, just because i dont want to have to mess with the TV cable and trying to make it work with my LS1 throttle body.

I've got two trannys lined up, one out of a 87GN and the other is out of a 87 MCSS. Both are high milaged boxes.

I've read the "strenghtening 200-4r" post, VERY good info. I'm kinda in the dark about what parts I need for something like im doing. I'm not sure if I would need the billet parts or not???? What do you think for a 3300lb raceweight car and 700hp????

HOTTOGO I'll let you know on the VB.

Shawn

Billet servo and fwd drum shaft a definite, inputshaft a plus. But if you read the "Strenghtenig" article then your no longer in the dark, I would recommend following it to the tee. Any corners you cut will be like cutting your own throat, I left out the fwd drum and inputshaft but I'm under 400hp. You may be able to leave them out also but depending on what kinda torque you have, how well it hooks-up and how hard you drive I'll bet you'll be putting them in sooner or later. Follow these two links as a guide.
