Is there enough Buick content to justify the dollars for a subscription?

I ditched that mag 2 years ago. They should call it LS high tech.

The older mags were good (about 4 years ago), but something changed with the writing styles. Its like an import magazine now. If I need Buick info I find it on this site.

Exactly. I was a subscriber for several years but I cancelled my subscription when they stopped doing articles about Turbo Buicks...:frown: I know they can say whatever reason they want for not talking about our cars anymore...but to me, Buicks were the only reason why I was suscribed, so I don't have any interest anymore...

Claude.

Should have the choice of
Yes , because it's the only place you might find a little Buick info or pictures

I've been a GMHTP subscriber since '01 and I've always liked the mag. They just featured a GN in this months issue. The last two issues they were doing a Buick bolt on series, though it was MIA in the latest issue.. Not too long ago they had an article on how to fight knock in these motors as well. They've done not one, but two 10 sec Buick build ups in the past 2 years or so alone. Considering this is the ONLY pulication that covers TR's AT ALL, I say it's worth it. You also have to consider that they only put this motor in two cars. The TR's and the TTA's. However they have covered a few hybrids in the past, such as Otto's Hurst/Olds, the "Grand Camino" and a 4.1 Turbo CTS a few years back. There isn't any Buick mags out there like what Pontiac has with High Performance Pontiac and Pontiac Enthusiast or how Chevy has Chevy High Performance and Super Chevy.

You also have to remember that GM has been putting LS motors in cars and trucks since 1997 and continue to do so.. So there's more mass appeal. TPI and LT1 owners have the same problem as the Buick loyalists do in regards to coverage.. In fact, I think the TPI guys have it the worst.. I haven't seen a whole lot of PI stuff in quite some time..

Hate to say it. Just get a membership to the GSCA and get the GSXtra magazine.

I agree with the GS-Xtra comment above, always Buick related. I too dropped my subscription to GM HiTech. If it interests me I buy it off the news stand; haven't bought one in months but I'll buy the one with Gomes's GN in it.

I still buy it even if there isn't much Buick content anymore. They write about what sells. Buicks don't make the mag sell.

X2, cause they still support our 20+ year old cars more than any other major publication!!!

I keep thinking Hightech is gonna suprise me and still little or no Buick stuff. I don't really see them doing anything with a black car. Maybe blue tho...;)

I stopped 2 years ago as well.

Its like "ok..I get it...you like LSx engines...yaaaaay....."

What else do you honestly expect them to talk about in the majority of the magazine?? The bottom line is the LSx engines are the most recent and relevant topic for most GM EFI performance enthusiasts~ period! If they wrote nothing but articles about TRs and LC2 engines the magazine would die a very quick death. They do what they can, throwing us an article every now and then but in order for them to keep the magazine alive they need to talk about what is relevant at this moment not 15-20 years ago! As it's been said many times before it's a simple matter of numbers and keeping up with the current trends.

way to ruin my rant, dude.

I know I know, numbers numbers blah blah etc etc.

I still get it. The bottom line is the LSX stuff is more popular than our cars, but they still have our beloved regals in there.

The latest issue has a Bad A$$ TSO car in it. A full write up. They still have more Turbo Buick articles than any other Mag. I'll keep supporting the magazine.

How ever would love to see more Buick articles in there. More like it was about 4 or 5 years ago. They still have allot to write about in regards to our cars.

x3...

If all they wrote was about turbo Buicks the magazine wouldn't last long...then there'd be NO magazine at all covering turbo Buicks. It still is a business after all.

You guys think we got it bad, but I think the turbo Buick still gets more press than the 3rd gen Fbody. I used to be in the TPI 3rd gen Fbody stuff many years ago. When the LT1 came out guys were complaining they weren't getting enough 3rd gen coverage. And to this day they still don't.

I think for just how known out cars are, we get OK coverage..not great, but whatever... there are only so many GM cars anyway...

I haven't read the mag is over 2 years, but I liked the "Feel" of it back in the day. Seemed to be as if some guy is sitting in his garage covered in oil from a days work writing this stuff.

Hopefully that hasn't changed.
