I was just watching a show on A&E(its on now) about goverment seizures of supposed drug money. They were searching cars in Sulpher,LA and I saw they were searching a GN that they had stopped. It showed the steering wheel 1st,then I got a glimpse of the passenger seat when they were searching the doors, definately GN.They stopped the car because it was "suspicious".

Guess our cars are mainly driven by drug dealers:rolleyes:

Anything faster then a cop car is suspicous.
Most of the 4 cylinder stuff nowadays falls into that category.
I guess, a Golf Cart, wouldn't be suspicous.

Watch the show.Theyre basically calling the cops/goverment theives, and after watching this show you will agree.Theyre letting dui's drive away to make more stops to confiscate things.
:(

And theyre "suspicious" is every car.Its an excuse to make a stop. The car isnt really suspicious, its racial profiling and stop every car you can to get money.

I lived in Sulphur, Louisiana for a couple of years. 20-20 did a special a few years back on this joke of a town. The cops were motivated to stop out of state, higher dollar vehicles. If you weren't speeding, they would stop you for "swerving". If you turned out to be stone cold sober, they would ask you if you were tired and maybe that was why you were "swerving" even though you never "swerved" to begin with. After still not finding any legitimate reason for stopping you in the first place, they would then ask if you didn't mind them looking in your car, which was the whole point to begin with. If they found ANYTHING in your car, they would confiscate it on the spot even if it was cash that you couldn't explain why you had. There are a TON of horror stories about legal battles and people winning but still being out a bunch of $$$ for court costs.

Wow I have some friends that got stopped down there for "swerving". They did look suspicious though, driving a 80's ford van that's jacked up with chrome five-spokes, wide tires, fuctional side pipes, etc. Must've thought they were running drugs. Kinda funny, actually, they've got pics of them up against the van getting frisked. They didn't get any tickets or anything confiscated.

Racial profiling, eh?

Believable I suppose, since any time we take my brother's 85 GN out cruising, the "gangster" black guys are all over it. I swear some of them may have broken their necks while spinning around to stare. I can't even count how many times we've been asked "how much" by these clowns in their rusty cutlasses and montes...

I hate to quote Fast and the Furious, but "More than you can afford, pal"

Drew, you fit that profile don't you?? Hehe....

BTW, I grew up in La. and can tell most of you have never traveled I-10 between Sulphur and Lake Charles. It is notorious for have high "pull over" rates.. Routinely see folks pulled over on the side of the road for routine "searches"..

As mentioned, there have been several stories and "investigations" into the police depts..

Ahhhhh... Good ole Louisiana politics.. Keep in mind this is the state whose governor went to federal prison and after being released was re-elected..

:)

lol,I sure do;)

Thing that really got me about Sulpher was them telling a guy who was piss drunk(could hardly stand) "just have a good night and be careful on the drive home" I was amazed.Even Alabaster cops arent that shady and we know how bad they want your money or to make a drug bust.

I knew New Orleans cops were shady from my own experiences but never thought id see a cop turn a dui loose to drive home.:(
