I remember hearing about a guy that was gonna put a TR motor (hot air?) into a 944. He even had a website about it. Does anyone remember this? I didn't find anything on the search.

Yes, there are two cars listed on "the other board" in the Hybrids section, one hotair (I believe the one you've seen before) and one intercooled. I've got a pristine '87 911 Turbo with 29,000 miles, but love my Buick more. I find myself looking for a Turbo shell or body thinking a Buick engine would sure be great in there. The best of both worlds, great power, great brakes, and hopefully still great handling. And way cheaper to repair:D.

The guy with the website did an intercooled swap.........his site is prolly still up. Told the tale of all the problems he had with the individual who started the swap for him.

I had a 944 and can say those things handle like they are on rails.

Not sure why U'd put a GN engine in one when you could just get a 944 turbo though?

Loved the car, but a major PITA to work on (them Germans do everything diffrent ;) ), and expensive as he!! to get parts for.

yeah, that's what I'm looking for...his site. Have the address by any chance?

do a google search....its in the turbo buick webring if i remember correctly

In the immortal words of Homer Simpson "Mmmmmmmm doughnut!"

Looking to use a Porsche transaxle with Buick turbo engine in my project, found that the Porsche transaxles do not hold up well to our motors. A place called "Renegade hybrids" which does Chevy to Porsche conversions sells also a kit to use Porsche transaxle to Buick V6 and though they will sell it do not recommend due to overwhelming customer problems with breaking transaxle housings (engine vibration with GM 6's). I really wanted to use one of those. For what it's worth.

There was a kitcar lambo on ebay a while back posted on here with a healthy GN engine................wonder what transaxle it used?

I know the porsche transaxle was popular in the kitcar world but not real educated on the subject.

Anyone read what the guy had to go through to get that engine in the car?! He went through hell and back.

He used a tranny out of an Olds Tornado, the TH325-4L,( which very similar to 200 R4 turned around backwards)My tranny guy said he could built that up in a pretty stout manner, they are also BOP bolt pattern. If you want something even stronger than that TH425 out of an early 70's Tornado,Eldo, or Riv which is like the TH400 only three speed. I am doing a Fiero with the similar setup.
If you go to Turbobuicks under the hybrid section you can see almost all the conversions including a local guy here in the chicago area with a GN powertrain in a Porsche

Good luck
