i just picked up a 85 gn to add to my colection.i allready own another 85 gn.my question is on the 85 gn i picked up today it has t tops, grey carpet,a regular manual heat system and it has the electric assist breaks and also a hood emblem that says turbo buick. the 85gn i have had for awhile has hydro boost breaks, black carpet, touch control heating,no hood emblem, and the electric moon roof. is there a reason why there is such a difference in these two cars.the car i just picked up today i paid 100 dollars for :) it needs work but has no rot. if anybody can help me here many thanks in advance.........rob 85 gn

To the best of my knowledge:
Buick changed from hydraboost brakes to powermaster brakes midyear in '85, and the hood emblem probably means the nose piece has been replaced with one from a boneyard. GN's didn't have hood ornaments and were the only regals without them. (doesn't necessarily mean the car was wrecked, I put my knee thru mine once!) Everything else is just different option items.

thank you

thanks for the help i am in high hopes to have this on the road by next spring :D

Are you sure that the one you just bough is a real GN? Check the truck lid for the option codes. If it is a real GN, it will say WE2 (I think)

i checked

i checked all the options and yes it is a genuine gn is there any way to check the vin code to see when it was made?

The last six digit of the VIN are a sequencetial number. The higher the number, the later it was made.

Check the decals inside the driver's door jamb for build dates.
