I have a 8.5 GN stock rear end with posi. I ordered in 33 spline Strange axles with c-clip eliminators. Guess I did not know what I was getting myself into. I just figured the end gears would come with the axle kit, wrong. I took my posi all the way apart and there is a cracked metal plate on one side. What do I do know, get a new posi unit with the correct gears, or rebuild the clutch pack and buy new gears from somewhere, or what ???

changing spider gears to use 33 spline axles on a stock carrier is not possible.

you need to buy a 33 spline posi/spool

Yep!. After going through the stock posi and two Auburn units, I fixed the problem once and for all with the installation of a spool, but kept the stock gears. Never had a problem since!

What percent street driven is your car with a spool?

My car is driven every now and then, mostly on weekends, going to car shows or to races, but not an "everyday driver". The spool is "noticeable" on sharp, small radius turns, but not at all in wider turns like ramps to get on highways, etc...I also rarely drive it in rain, but on the few occasions when I got caught, I didn't have any problem. Some common sense and driving safely is the key...

You might be stuck with a spool. I could be wrong but I believe the biggest posi unit available is a 31 spline.

Well there I go spending money on this car before researching it again. Looks spool shopping I go. Are there any that are recommended over others?

Moser is a popular choice, at least, that's what I have and I'm greatly satisfied with them. Some members might not agree with me because of some oil leaking, but a simple oil seal into the axle tube solved that problem for me a long time ago...They have some spool and axles kits available...See link below:
