gnx chip info.

hi all i have a qustion. one of my old timer parts guys gave a box full of oem gn parts. one of them was a chip he told me it was a gnx chip and he ordered it in 87 on a warrenty claim for a gnx in for service. my question is how do tell if it is a real gnx chip..ie part numbers or prom id numbers thanks for the help
