So I been reading the GNX thread and all and Im thinking of building a stock spec GNX turbo for a car for the wife. I just need to know where to know where to get the parts at for this and what else was involved on the motor side of the GNX.

do more reading ,
the turbo wheel sizes are the same , motors are the same as reg gn except there was a shift kit in the tranny
the gnx power was the chip, get a tt chip and youll be faster than the gnx, or should i say still slow but not as slow as the gnx

if you want fast add alky

I been told the gnx turbo was different from the gn......... It is however for fun.

it was , it had a ceramic impeller on exhaust wheel , the lighter ceramic was to improve spoolup (same size wheel as stock gn wheel) and the exhaust housing had a cast in contaminant trap ,
typically gnx turbos go for 2500 and up for the guys who wan their gnx to be original again

hello people: You seem to know your GNX. Do you know anymore about the shift kit? I know ASC did some stuff with TB but was the shift kit an aftermarket or did GM have something to do with it?

Damn so whay made them faster beside that?

just the chip , do you consider 13.3s fast
it was approx 1 sec faster than the stock GN , that was the goal and they got it for the most part with the chip which also raised the boost up to 15psi ,

put a tt chip in a GN and you can get in to the 12s

as for the performance mods and shift mods .. theres some info on the gnxregistry.org site but what i read there was more like a salesman pitch.... vague and exaggerated making the slight changes between the gnx and gn seem like huge gains

if you want facts get the gnx guide by steven L dove, it details the parts used in every stage of the gnx build at ASC transforming a base gn to a GNx...http://www.amazon.com/Buick-Grand-National-T-Type-GNX/dp/0962105953

heres another site with info

Other than the chip and converter, the GNX also has much better and wider tires than a GN.

The stock 2.15X15 Goodyear tires on a stock turbo car were terrible on the street, as well as the strip. Most magazine test results were NOT with stock rear tires.

GNX go fast or stuff that helped

Shift kit
Aux trans cooler
Lil better IC (TTA used it)
Turbo had ceramic wheel and trap in turbine housing as mentioned
Chip
Functional louvers in the fenders to evacuate heat from engine bay
Wider tires and fender flares
Different wheels (im sure lighter than GN steels)
Had extra body bushings and bracing
Alum drums and bumper supports
Ladder bar suspension
Different exhaust
Ceramatel thermal coating on up pipe

It was not really a ladder bar rear suspension, it had a track arm and panhard bar like an F-body for good road race handling, but sucked on a drag strip.

Of the 2 "drag car" GNX's I worked on and prepared, one was converted to stock suspension and would hook good compared to the original GNX! :)

If you want I have a gnx turbo assembly for sale. $1800+ship. I also have an NOS turbine with the special ex side bearing assembly. I'll sell it for$1000+ship. Contrary to what's been posted the turbine is a completely different design than a stock turbine. The blades are significantly wider and have a slightly different angle than stock. The ex housing is also different. It's a .82 a/r and has a particle trap.
