I have used computer duster, tried picking out the dust, the damn thing still stops half way across the screen. It is extremely irritating!!!

After taking the ball out, you need to scrape off the crap that builds up on the wheels inside.

Invest in an optical mouse (with the little red light on the bottom) , worth every penny. No more cleaning and you dont need a mouse pad.

If you got it...spend 80 bucks and get the remote mouse and keyboard from MS....works sweet!!!...but pricey

...or just clean the crap off like CHARGED said...mine does the same thing and I'm too cheap to buy the MS remote or the optical.

Amen to that. Infrared is the way to go, for sure, and the cordless is just the next step up. I bought a cordless keyboard/mouse combo from Logitech and I love it. Very nice not having wires pulling and strewn around for your 2 most used components. Very easy on the batteries too. Small receiver tucked away somewhere and it has good range and reliability.

For those you out there with Fuzz and Lint on your Mouse ball's. Learn proper maintenance for optimum performance. A word of advice Keep you work area clean this will save you the potential frustration and embarassment (if being watched) of having improper function due contaminated ball's.

I personally make a habit out of cleaning my mouse everytime I wash the dog. It isn't nearly as messy as doing the dog, and the mouse doesn't shake off water as bad as the dog either. lol. Pay the price for an optical read, or a wireless if you can. Well spent money in either case. Stop eating while you are on the computer also, will keep the crumbs from choking your mouse's balls.

I used to use a Q-tip, toothpick, and some rubbing alcohol. Get the Q-tip moist with alcohol and use that to get the scum off the wheels inside. Use a toothpick if it is especially crusty.

Otherwise, buy a optical mouse like everyone else said. You can pick one up pretty cheap and they work much better.

If I use alcohol on the mouse balls won't they melt?
I tried it but he keeps wiggling and won't be still. I'm hanging him by his tail. Is this correct?
OMG I think he's in pain!!!!!

Kevons, glad im not a mouse in your house. ha ha ha. I can hear him squealling as we chat. Mark :D
