can anyone tell me how much hp a Q-trim 70mm turbo would make over a P-trim turbo of the same size compressor?

prob around 145 to 200 hp if you buy mine in the parts for sale section section  jk dont know that one .

A lot more if 4 bolted and run at the highest pressure ratio on the map until it overspeeds. Id guess 80-100hp. But thats only in combo that would allow that power potential.

80-100 would that be a 4 bolt? I was planning to stay with a 3 bolt, just wondering how much a Q made over a P-trim on the same turbo? thanx!

Id think it woud be a stretch with a 3 bolt. TSM goes high 140's with a 3 bolt but they are not the norm. There are a few racers on here who have gone mid 130's+ with a 76 (p) trim. One has gone over 132 mph with a PT54 (69 trim). If you want to "only" go 130 mph then a p-trim is all you need imo and requires way less converter to spool. If you want to go over 140 mph then the GTQ is the best bet. I dont understand why you would keep the 3 bolt configuration unless you are running in a class that requires it. There is a lot more potential with the 4 bolt and most guys when they are nearing the 140 mph mark are running aftermarket headers anyway. Id spend the money on 4 bolt headers and then have the higher hp potential available with the 4 bolt. There are a lot more exhaust a/r's available also. You could even spool with N2O and run a really big a/r and pick up even more mph if you are really hard core. On a 125 mph car runnin under 25 psi the GTQ isnt worth much. If you are running 25+ and revving to 6000+ then you could benefit more. How much depends on the combo. Id want at least 9.0:1 and really good heads with the GTQ though.

Hi Bison, I'm wanting to stay 3bolt to keep things simple & I have ATR 3 bolt headers. My new motor is a 109 stroker with 9-1 cr, full ported gn-1's. My current turbo is a 70bb p-trim but I was looking for a q for the stroker.

40-50hp at 26-28 psi. The 3 bolt will be the choker in the combo. 4 bolted with enough injector and a good tune you should be pushing the stock block pretty hard and be capable of 140+mph passes.

Why is a 4 bolt hsg better than a 3 bolt?

EDIT:
Never mind. I found the sticky at the top.

My car went from 137 mph with the p-trim old shcool 70 to my current times(see sig) with the 70 gtq. Both run at 30 psi and the approximately same a/r exh housings. They were both 4 bolt turbos but "on center" not tangenial. Should be a 30-40 hp increase with the right supporting parts and boost. expect slower spooling with the Q unless you go bb.

Why didnt you go with tangential housings? The on center is not much better flowing than the 3 bolt form what i have gathered on here. I can see why when looking into the housings side by side.

I already had everything set up for the on center. Too much trouble and expense to change over. I already have more than i can use on the street. If this was a race car than definatley worth the change.
